Heroic overcome difficult start to beat c0ntact
After two maps with slow starts, the number 2 in the World advances to the Upper Semi-Finals at DreamHack Masters.
The Heroes from Denmark opened DreamHack Masters Winther with a match against c0ntact. The Danes were heavy favorites to take home the victory beforehand.
But it started difficult for Heroic in the first half against c0ntact on Mirage. It was not until stavn and cadiaN got their double AWP-setup to work, that they started to pose a threat to c0ntact, who started brilliantly on Mirage. From 2-9, Heroic took nine rounds in a row to turn the match around, before c0ntact managed to win a round.
But the Danish Heroes were far too strong on their T-side. cOntact only managed to win two rounds in the second half, which ended with a 16-11 Heroic win.
The Danes had Nuke lined up as their map pick. A favorite for the Danes, who has won 79% of all their matches here.
But with a Desert Eagle in his hands, Lithuanian Rokas “EspiranTo” Milasauskas was beginning to become a problem for Heroic. Together with Spinx, the two c0ntact players kept their team in the match until 10-10.
From here on the Danish side turned on the aggression and left no chance for c0ntact. The number 2 in the world won the last six rounds and won the game with 16-10.
Heroic will face the winner of FaZe and Team Spirit in the next round. c0ntact will face the loser in the lower bracket.
