Gambit wins second title of the year
The Russians took home $80.000 with a win at Pinnacle Cup.
Gambit continued their great start to 2021 with a Grand Final win against HAVU at Pinnacle Cup.
The Russians had been seeded for the playoffs at the event and did not disappoint in the match against the Finns from HAVU, who had dismantled Ninjas in Pyjamas and BIG on their way to the final.
On Train it started with a "sh1ro" clutch, just to set the tone.
Gambit had no issues in taking HAVU's map pick, and it looked like a short Grand Final, with the match moving on to Mirage, where the Russians have not been defeated in 2021. Until today.
With Lasse 'ZOREE' Uronen in the driver's seat, the Finns managed to tame the Russians with a very composed CT-side that left Gambit frustrated. With a 16-10 victory, HAVU became the first team to beat Gambit on Mirage since Virtus.pro did it in December 2020.
The momentum did not carry over to Overpass. Gambit completely trashed HAVU in the first half and ruined what could have been a dramatic ending to the Grand Final. With Ax1Le, Hobbit, and sh1ro all in great shape, there was never really any chance for HAVU to make the upset.
Gambit takes home $80.000, while HAVU won $20.000 for their effort at Pinnacle Cup.
