Gambit destroys G2 in clean 2-0 victory
The world's number 1 team is ready for the Grand Final at DH Masters Spring.
There is no doubt, that 2021 so far belongs to the Russian roster from Gambit. The winner of IEM Katowice qualified for another Grand Final, after dismantling G2 Esports in the Semi-Final at DreamHack Masters Spring.
The secret of the huge success for the young CIS roster has been a strong collective, where new stars as Dmitry 'sh1ro' Sokolov and Sergey 'Ax1Le' Rykhtorov has been backed up by strong performances from the three remaining Gambit players with the experienced Abay 'Hobbit' Khasenov as a beacon for the perfect teammate.
Today in the match against G2, it was the Kazakh who shone the brightest.
On Inferno G2 quickly had to realize, that they would have to surrender their map pick to Gambit. sh1ro started on fire going 12-1 after the first seven rounds. On the other side of the server the entire G2 roster ended the map in negative K-D scores, which underlined the dominance from Gambit.
Vertigo was next up. Here the French/Balkan roster got off to a much better start, though they again suffered from one of their players having a very slow start to the map. On Inferno, it was JaCkz, while AmaNEk had a rough start on Vertigo with zero kills after the first eight rounds.
From 4-4, Gambit turned the heat up. Despite losing a lot of the opening duels, they still managed to win the rounds, which gave them a 9-6 lead at the break. In the second half G2 had their chances, but had to see the map slip away after some incredible individual plays from sh1ro with the AWP.
