Gambit are the V4 Future Sports Festival champions!
Entropiq almost made the reverse sweep come true!
The Grand Final started on Vertigo, which was picked by Gambit despite this being the battleground upon which they last fell against Entropiq at the PGL Major Stockholm.
It looked great for Entropiq early on as they took the first four rounds of the map, but as soon as the rifles came out for Gambit it was clear why they picked this map. The Nafany-led squad was very map-dominant especially towards the ramp, denying a lot of space and information for Entropiq, and taking the half 9-6.
The second half was very similar to the first. Entropiq secured the pistol and converted the following two, but when sh1ro and his soldiers got their favorite firearms, it was game over for Entropiq. Gambit secured the map at 16-10.
To try to even the score at 1-1 Entropiq had picked Ancient, a map that they have embraced from the start and are undefeated on at the V4 Future Sports Festival.
Unfortunately for Entropiq, Gambit are also very well versed on this map, which was apparent right from the get-go. Gambit dictated the pace of the first half completely and looked very prepared for exactly the style of Ancient that Entropiq wanted to play. Entropiq was down 11-4 at the break.
The second half started poorly for Entropiq as they soon found themselves down 14-5. Through great effort from “Forester” and “El1an”, the Entropiq-side was able to make a comeback look doable as they clawed their way back to 15-12. It was just barely not enough as “Ax1Le” put the final nail in the Entropiq coffin after a 1v2 clutch, which concluded the map at 16-12 in favor of Gambit.
The third map of Overpass was do-or-die for Entropiq if they wanted to keep hopes of a Grand Final win alive. And they really went out and did. “NickelBack” and his squad made Gambit look like a tier 3 team in the first half as they did whatever they wanted, with Gambit having no answers. Especially “Krad” looked like a man with a mission, and that mission was to humiliate Gambit. He ended the half with 24 frags, which fueled Entropiq to a 13-2 half.
But the second half showed us that Gambit had been playing possum in the first 15 rounds. It was now their turn to make Entropiq look stumped. The comeback was on, and Gambit crept closer and closer to their opponents, and for a moment it looked like we might have overtime on the cards. But at the scoreline 15-13 Entropiq executed a classic B-rush and removed the Gambit defense swiftly. The map concluded at 16-13 in favor of Entropiq who were now looking for the reverse sweep.
The next map up was Mirage. The last time the two sides faced each other on this map Gambit steamrolled Entropiq in flawless 16-0 fashion. This was not happening again as Entropiq secured the first round of the game and could breathe a sigh of relief. They took advantage of the pistol win, and the momentum from winning Overpass and got ahead 5-1. Gambit pushed back, and it looked like the luck might have run out for the Entropiq side. But they kept their chin up and went to break with a commanding 10-5 lead.
Gambit had to strap on their hard hats and really go to work to make this comeback a reality. Taking the pistol win and converting it was a step in the right direction for them, but as soon as the rifles came out Entropiq had their number. “NickelBack” and co. took the map 16-7 and are going into the decider map Dust2 with extreme momentum.
The decider was the most iconic map in Counter-Strike history: Dust2. After a knife round win Gambit chose to start on the CT-side where they showed us why they are the world's #3. They picked up the first seven rounds giving up only half a dozen frags in the process. The rest of the half wasn’t much better for Entropiq as they only managed to pick up three rounds before the break.
Entropiq only managed one round on their CT-side before Gambit was able to close the map at 16-4.
Gambit is therefore the winners of the V4 Future Sports Festival!
