FunPlus Phoenix overcome sAw; secure Grand final spot
chrisJ and company are ready for the final at Snow Sweet Snow after beating sAw 2-0 in the semi-final.
FunPlus Phoenix is the first team to lock in a Grand final spot at Snow Sweet Snow 1, following a clean victory over the Portuguese-side from sAw. Farlig and company will play against the winner of Gambit vs. Virtus.pro later today in the much-awaited final.
The match began on sAw’s map pick of Dust2, where FPP locked down the opener 16-13 after a hard-fought battle where both teams followed each other most of the time. The European-mixture from FPP lost the pistol round on Nuke and the two rounds afterward but managed to find their footing as soon as their money started to grow, storming to an 8-5 lead on T-side. sAw managed to deny FPP from grabbing the last two rounds of the half, lowering their deficit to only one. As the teams switched sides, sAw started to look shaky after the first three rounds and had a hard time finding the right timing in their plays, which resulted in FPP closing out the map 16-10 on CT-side.
