Oleksandr ”s1mple” Kostyliev is arguably one of the best players to ever play CS:GO but he hasn’t always been the best teammate.
s1mple is a skilled rifler, an assassin with the AWP, and a wizard with a pistol, the Ukrainian beast can do it all. But in the beginning, s1mple garnered a reputation for himself among the community as a talented, but brash player who doesn’t always get along with his teammates.
One of the defining traits of players on the top of Counter-Strike is the ability, and willingness, to do whatever It takes to win. But sometimes that takes a different form than you’d expect. And for s1mple, that’s involved a journey to conquer internal demons as much as external. He never lacked for talent or work ethic, but his own anger acted as a ceiling on his early career.
“Something goes wrong inside of my head, I become like a monster. Sometimes you try not to rage but it comes out anyway. Some stupid mistakes happen from time to time. I rage, and then I rage at myself and the game goes wrong for me. That’s not right in my opinion.”
