degster on impressive IEM Katowice campaign: They did not expect such attacks from the CIS teams

The promising AWPer Abdul “degster” Gasanov has been a spectacular and renowned figure on the CS:GO scene, since he arrived at Spirit back in January this year. The 19-year old talent and the rest of Spirit has in a short time developed into an exciting and very competent roster.

Spirit presented also an outstanding performance at the prestigious and just finished IEM Katowice, where the Russian went all the way to the semifinal, having qualified through the earlier Play-In stage.

Now has Spirit’s new Superstar in degster opened up about the impressive run at the $1 Million event, with the Russian International talking about the other competitor underestimating CIS teams as Gambit, VP, NAVI and Spirit, going into the event.

“They did not expect such attacks from the CIS. And I think after this tournament they will have more serious preparation for the matches against CIS teams.” degster says to Respawn Podcast.

The former Espada player continues by explaining how he sees that the power structure inside the CIS region also has been altered, owing to a strong display by Gambit, VP and Spirit, and not only the former rulers in NAVI.

“We no longer see NAVI as the only team in the CIS region, that’s capable of playing on equal terms with top teams from other regions. This shows that over the years the level in the CIS has grown."
