Astralis terminates s1mple and NAVI - On for another lower bracket run
The highly anticipated rematch ended with a dominant Astralis performance.
In the lower bracket final, it was revenge time for Astralis, as they faced their rivals from Natus Vincere. The Russian team had sent the Danes to the lower bracket with a 2-1 win in the opening match.
Astralis picked Inferno as their map pick. A map where the Danes can exploit their utility at maximum.
A rough start for “B1T”, who were slaughtered last time around against Astralis. This time the new NAVI player did better, but he could not prevent a loss. S1mple did his best effort though and continued his crazy 2020 against Astralis. The Ukrainian went + 17 in k/d ratio on Inferno, but his team lost 16-11.
Train was next up. A map that many team fears, and a map we don’t see often in the pool. Astralis had only played Train six times during the last six months, while NAVI had nine encounters in the same timespan.
It was the Danes that adapted best.
Astralis took the lead 10-5 after the first half, while “s1mple” had gone quiet. A disturbing sight for NAVI, who struggled to find momentum.
Emil “Magisk” Reif simply denied NAVI with a dominant performance going 25-13 in k/d-ratio and secured his team a 16-7 win on Train.
Astralis is now ready for a big Sunday, where they face BIG in the Consolidation Final. The winner qualifies for the Grand Final against Vitality Sunday evening.
With the victory, Astralis also qualified for BLAST Global Finals.
