Astralis are through to the semi-finals in IEM Cologne!
They Danish squad took down Virtus.pro to secure themselves a spot in the semi-finals at the prominent event.
The mighty Danes from Astralis are through to the semi-finals at the prominent IEM Cologne 2021 event, after taking down YEKINDAR and company from Virtus.pro in the quarter-final. Astralis will take upon G2 in the semi-final on Saturday at 16:00 (CET) for a spot in the Grand final, while VP’s journey in IEM Cologne ends here.

The action started on VP’s map pick of Overpass, where Astralis got off to a dream start by taking an early 6-0 lead. After that, VP slowly started to find their footing and managed to get 5 rounds on the board, before Astralis finished the first half with a 10-5 lead. In the second half, it seemed like Astralis were going to quickly lock in the map, but YEKINDAR and company wanted it different as they made a great comeback to push the game into OT. Unfortunately for VP, Astralis proved to be too strong as they closed out the OT 19-16.
On Astralis map pick of Dust2, Virtus.pro bounced back and won 22-20 as they pushed through double OT to force us to a decider on Inferno. YEKINDAR and Xyp9x both finished the map with the same rating (1.28), K-D diff (+13), KPR (0.95), and were the two best players on the server. However, YEKINDAR edged out the Dane when it came to ADR, 97.5, compared to Xyp9x’s 86.0.
The mighty Danes wrapped up the series 2-0 on Inferno, after they closed out the map 16-8.. Magisk stepped up huge on Inferno and delivered 24 frags to help his team advance to the semi-finals of Cologne.
