Zonic: "Everyone except Xyp9x is carrying the AWP at one point"
"Zonic" touches on the questions regarding Astralis and not having a primary AWP'er in the roster
Since Nicolai "device" Reedtz left Astralis earlier this year to join the Swedish organization Ninjas in Pyjamas, Astralis have looked lackluster in periods. This lead to the discussion of whether or not Astralis need to have a primary AWP'er in the roster in order to regain their previous success. Head Coach of Astralis Danny "zonic" Sørensen explains the following in regards to the topic in an interview for ESL:
"I still think that we have capable AWP'ers in the team - not primary, we've switched it a little bit around. But yeah I tend to agree that sometime in the long run we will need a stable AWP'er so we can have dupreeh on the rifle, because that is where he shines, and gla1ve can focus on his calling."
Astralis has, as mentioned, not got a stable primary AWP'er at this current moment of time, something that is very rarely seen in professional CS:GO. Instead, they are testing the waters and letting almost every individual in the roster give it their best attempt with "the big green":
"Magisk has been doing the AWP'ing on Vertigo and then you have Peter doing it on most maps. We have now tried switching it over to gla1ve a little but, everyone except Xyp9x is carrying the AWP at one point."
Astralis will face G2 later today at 16.00 (CEST) in the semi-finals of IEM Cologne 2021. Which Astralis player is going to wield the AWP is unsure, but it will be interesting to see if "gla1ve" will continue picking up the responsibility of the AWP.
