XANTARES and co. invited to $50.000 tournament
Eternal Fire comes into the knockout stage as the highest-rated team.
On Friday, October 21, the CCT North Europe Series 1 playoffs are scheduled to start. For a chance to win the first-place reward of $22.000 and 150 points on the North Europe regional ranking scoreboard, the 16 participating squads will compete in a single-elimination, best-of-three tournament.
The knockout stage will include eight teams that received direct invites to the playoffs, similar to other tournaments in the Champion of Champions circuit, and another eight teams that earned their own spots after finishing first in the group stage under the Swiss format.
Eternal Fire, which is the team with the highest rating, enters directly to the playoff round. XANTARES and company recently struggled to go through the CCT South Europe knockout stage, where they were defeated by Websterz, a team that’s ranked #94 in HLTV’s World Ranking. The Turkish side has had a hard time producing strong performances lately, most notably failing to secure a spot in the IEM Rio Major 2022, following a 2-3 showing at the RMR.
The Turkish squad parted ways with then IGL Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli as a result of their failure to secure a spot in the $1.250.000 Major event. The team then finished 3-4th in their debut with their new player, imoRR, at the ESL Challenger Rotterdam.
