Team Liquid wins crucial match at ESL Pro League against Entropiq
The North American team recovered well from yesterday's defeat.
Both Entropiq and Team Liquid had their eyes set on three vital points, as the two teams faced each other in the third round of action in Group D at ESL Pro League. Yesterday saw both teams lose for the first time in the tournament, which had them all even in the rankings before the match.
On Vertigo the tension was high, as Entropiq won the first half of their map pick with the most narrow of margins, 8-7. But after the break the Russian team lost momentum at a crucial time. At 11-11 Viktor 'Lack1' Boldyrev missed an open chance, when he somehow missed a free kill on the fully blinded Keith 'NAF' Markovic, who was quick to eliminate his opponent after regaining sight.
Entropiq only won one round in the rest of the map, where Team Liquid looked solid.
On Overpass it was again Entropiq with the early lead. Up 9-6 at the break and 12-7 at the start of the second half, it looked like a third map was needed to decide the matter. Amazingly enough, Entropiq lost steam once again, and this time it was a full-blown catastrophe. The CIS team lost 12-16 and could not stop the Canadian killing machine Keith 'NAF' Markovic, who just continued his great performance from Vertigo.
A horrible way for Entropiq to lose both maps, and the question is if the CIS team can recover from this? On the other side Team Liquid is now on the right path towards a spot in the playoffs. More matches will be played tomorrow in Group D.
