OG ready for Semi-Finals at IEM Summer
The European roster got the better of Evil Geniuses after three maps.
In the Group A final between Evil Geniuses and OG, there was a spot in the Semi-Final and the luxury of not having to face Gambit at stake.
Both teams were an unlikely fit for a group final, but to the surprise of most, the North Americans and the OG European roster had navigated through Heroic, Virtus.pro, Spirit, and Ninjas in Pyjamas to reach the upper final.
On Dust2, it looked like a solid OG victory after going 14-7 ahead. But then it all fell apart for Aleksib and his troops. Suddenly CeRq and MICHU got activated which laid ground for an incredible comeback to seal OG's map pick 16-14.
A huge confidence boost for Evil Geniuses, who has crashed down the world ranking lately. On Overpass we saw why. On their own map pick, the North Americans got completely destroyed. All of OG's players ended the map with positive K-D ratios. EG lost 16-6 in a disappointing showing, that left little hope before the third and deciding map, Inferno.
But all hope was lost shortly after the first bullet went flying because OG had another level to their game.
After the first half OG was leading 10-5 and fully dominating the map as the CT side, and this didn’t change after they became the T side, where they went on to win six and lost zero in what seemed to be an easy win for OG.
OG won the map 16-5 and bulldozed Evil Geniuses in the last two maps!
