Media: Spirit to announce sh1ro
A new CIS superteam could be on the cards.
Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov has been among the best players in the past couple of years. The Russian AWP’er emerged alongside his Gambit teammates to be a part of the absolute top of CS:GO in 2021, and has since then been considered one of the best snipers in the game.
But in a shocking move, sh1ro decided to step down from the new superteam of Cloud9 in October. The mix of the best of the old Gambit roster and the two Russians on NAVI was hailed as one of the most interesting and promising teams in competitive Counter-Strike, but something did not work out for Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov, who is yet to reveal the exact reason why he left the team.
Meanwhile, another Russian team has emerged in the shadows of Tier-1 Counter-Strike. Since the summer a new lineup for Spirit has climbed the rankings, where they were placed 40th in July to now being considered the 12th best team in the world. The 16-year-old wonderkid Danil "donk" Kryshkovets has been the big revelation during the fall with insane ratings since the shift to CS2. The supertalent won his first MVP award at BetBoom Dacha 2023, where Spirit won the event ahead of teams such as Virtus.pro, Cloud9, FURIA, and Astralis.
According to HLTV, Spirit could be looking to further improve its lineup with the addition of Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov. The move should already have been finalized before the tournament victory at BetBoom Dacha. At Spirit, “sh1ro” will replace Artem "ArtFr0st" Kharitonov, who is the current AWP’er.
