Fnatic is off to a great start at IEM Katowice!
Outsiders is off to a bad start at IEM Katowice 2023.
fnatic secured themselves their first victory at the IEM Katowice 2023 after they took down Outsiders in a three-map series.
The mixed European team fnatic started as fire on their own map pick Vertigo. A great T side from the fnatic IGL mezzi resulted in a 12-3 T side lead at halftime. Outsiders fought back by taking eight out of ten possible in the second half, but after such an impressive T side from fnatic, they secured four rounds to close out the game 16-12.
Next up, Mirage. A map pick that Outsiders has been looking dominant on during the last six months. The Russian team likes to play the clock and dominate the map to take away space from the CT side. A well-fought first half from fnatic resulted in an 8-7 lead in favor of the Russian team. Switching over to the CT side, fnatic stood no chance against the AWP in Jame´s hands who played an insane CT side to secure his team a 16-8 victory.
Overpass was left to decide who would walk away with their first victory at the main event. fnatic started out best but with Outsiders playing their own style of play they closed the gap and got six rounds on the T side. A 9-6 lead in favor of fnatic was enough for the mixed team to take down Outsiders in a thriller overtime and win map three and the series 2-1.
