Magisk on IGL situation: It can be confusing sometimes
Astralis' in-game leader gives his view on the IGL situation on Astralis.
Emil “Magisk” Reif gave an interview with the Blast desk after yesterday’s impressive win against G2. Some of the talking points were the IGL situation at Astralis. Because it came as a surprise for some people when device two days ago said in an interview that Magisk were in-game leading on the Danish side and not gla1ve.
Magisk said that he and gla1ve both can IGL, but clarifies that he’s the IGL the majority of the time. The 22-year old Dane explains that this double IGL situation works really well, but sometimes can be confusing for the team.
“It was only on Dust 2 that gla1ve were calling, all the other maps were me. Sometimes if he has a good call, he comes up with the idea. I think it’s a good thing right now. It’s a good ping pong that works really good, but obviously, it can be confusing sometimes as well, but that’s when I have to step in and make the correct thing and follow our plan”
Magisk explains that at the beginning it was hard to find the right balance between him and gla1ve due to the former roles of the two players. But he believes that they have found the correct harmony.
“It’s a really difficult line because I’ve been used to have gla1ve as an IGL for my entire time in Astralis, so giving me the power to suddenly be the one who has to make the decisions is kind of difficult especially when he comes up with ideas, it can be difficult for me to turn him down, but I think we are finding a good balance between it”
