Will Brazil’s finest write history at IEM Rio Major?

IEM Rio will be the second CS:GO Major of 2022 and the first-ever Major tournament to be held in Brazil. The Challenger Stage of the Major will kick off on October 31, with the Grand final of the event set to be played on November 13. Once the Legends Stage kicks off, a total of 16 teams will be competing for the lion’s share of the $1.250.000 prize pool, with the winner walking away with a Major trophy and $500.000.

Established in 2017, FURIA have quickly risen to the top of CS:GO. The new age of Brazilian Counter-Strike some would say. A roster that was made up entirely of new Brazilian talent, emerged on the scene after moving to North America back in 2018 when they started to climb CS:GO’s World Ranking, earning a spot in the Top 30 by the following year.

Until this day, the Brazilian team has established itself as one of the strongest teams in the world who always are participating in the biggest CS:GO events. But, they haven’t yet managed to become a title-winning CS:GO roster that is able to take home trophies against top-tier opposition. However, one thing is for sure, FURIA are nearly always to be found among the top eight in tournaments.

Now, with a Major coming up in their home country, the Brazilian squad is hungrier than ever to make a mark and write a new history for the organization. A lot of pressure will be on the team, as they know their fans won’t be satisfied with anything less than a quarter-final spot. It’s their time to show that they are Brazil's future of Counter-Strike and that they can become a world-class team with a home crowd behind them. We at Pley.gg believe FURIA have a good chance of overcoming some of the best teams in the world with a home crowd helping to push their limits. That’s why we predict FURIA to at least reach the quarter-finals of the event!
