fnatic make G2 look foolish

The third day of ESL Pro League Season 15 Group A concluded with an exciting brawl between the star-studded G2 roster and the underdogs of fnatic. It was clear to everyone that it was G2's game to lose and that they were heavy favorites going into the Bo3-series. Things didn't go as you would expect, however. After a close first map on Inferno, fnatic completely stunned G2 with an impressive 16-2 victory on G2's own map pick. Carrying over the momentum, the third and final map of the series was equally as potent for the otherwise troubled fnatic roster. Thanks to stellar performances from the Bulgarian sniper "poizon" and the British rifler "mezii", G2 was contained from start to finish. The impressive upset from fnatic marks their second victory at the ESL Pro League Season 15.

The first map of the Bo3-series was picked by fnatic and was set to take place on the soil of Inferno. Fnatic have proven themselves more than capable on Inferno and are currently sitting on an 80% win-rate (5 maps) in the past three months. G2, however, are no jokes themselves of Inferno and an intense brawl was on the cards between the two rosters. And intense it was. The first half was dominated by the G2 defense, as they proved a difficult obstacle for fnatic. At the scoreline of 10-5, an impressive comeback was needed from fnatic, in order of them standing a chance in the second half of Inferno. A masterclass from "poizon" almost proved enough for fnatic to post an incredible comeback, however, ultimately it was too late. At 16-14, it was G2 to close out Inferno and gain the advantage going into the second map of the series.

The second map of the Bo3-series was the pick of G2 and saw the series head to Dust 2. Whilst it is, without any doubt, a map that favors the individual firepower of G2's roster, an in-form "poizon" could perhaps throw a spanner in the works. And that he most certainly did. An unreal performance from the Bulgarian sniper completely stunned the G2 roster and made them seem unable to do anything right. No matter where G2 opted to go on Dust 2, they were met with resistance from fnatic's defense. A stellar CT-sided half resulted in an impressive 13-2 lead going into the second half of Dust 2. All fnatic had to do on their T-side was to finish what they had started and they did exactly that. Without losing a single round in the second half it was fnatic to post a huge upset against G2 and force a third and final map.

The third and final of the Bo3-series was set to be Mirage. Known for being a map that is very open and allows for many long-range aim-duels it seemed the perfect map for "poison" and his troops to carry over their momentum. Perhaps still tilted by the previous map, it was a discombobulated G2 roster to start Mirage. As if nothing had changed, it was once again fnatic to seem almost invincible. With "mezii" leading the charge this time it was fnatic to gain a huge lead at the halftime scoreline of 12-3. The second half was a less one-sided affair than the previous half, however, the result was ultimately the same. At the scoreline of 16-7, it was fnatic to take Mirage and claim victory against the heavy favorites of G2.
