Vitality has officially announced that Audric "JACKZ" Jug will stand in for William "mezii" Merriman during the upcoming BLAST Premier World Final. This decision was first revealed by French insider Sebastien "KRL" Perez and later confirmed by the organization to HLTV. The highly-anticipated event, boasting a $1 million prize pool, is set to take place from October 30 to November 3 in Singapore.

Mezii’s Absence Due to Family Commitments

Mezii will be missing the BLAST Premier World Final due to personal commitments, as he is expecting to become a father around the time of the tournament. Vitality’s coach, Rémy "XTQZZZ" Quoniam, disclosed that the decision to enlist JACKZ as a stand-in was made nearly two months ago, underscoring the team’s meticulous planning ahead of the event.

Preparations Unhindered for the Perfect World Shanghai Major

Despite the temporary roster change, Vitality’s focus remains on the upcoming Perfect World Shanghai Major cycle. XTQZZZ assured that the team’s preparation for this significant event will not be compromised. The European Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the Major, is scheduled to commence 14 to 18 days after the conclusion of the BLAST Premier World Final, depending on the grouping in which Vitality is placed.

This isn't the first instance where Vitality has called upon JACKZ to step in during a critical juncture. Earlier in 2023, the 32-year-old French player replaced Peter "dupreeh" Rasmussen during the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 17 while dupreeh was on parental leave. JACKZ's experience and adaptability have made him a reliable choice for Vitality in moments of need.

JACKZ has been a free agent since being benched by TSM in April 2024. In the interim, he has continued to showcase his skills with various teams, most notably with Project G—a roster that disbanded after just two months in September. His availability and experience make him a fitting temporary addition to the Vitality lineup for this high-stakes event.

It was almost plug and play for William 'mezii' Merriman, when the 25-year-old Englishman joined Team Vitality. The former Fnatic player had to replace one of the best anchors in Counter-Strike history, the 4x Major winner Emil "Magisk" Reif, and he did it in style winning the first two tournaments Vitality participated in after the switch.

With his move to Vitality, William 'mezii' Merriman also got upgraded to a championship-winning team, which is a first for the former Cloud9, Endpoint, GamerLegion, and Fnatic player. A move that cut off a lot of the usual online tournaments and play-in tournaments, that the rifler has been used to playing in the past.

- With Vitality, you are entering a tournament where you need to be able to perform instantly in the first game. We need to play well, and I think as an individual, it's something I am worried about. I think it's definitely something I am working on, but it's an adjustment, something different, and it's improving for me individually to be able to turn up instantly from the first game.

In 2024, Vitality has not been able to replicate the same results as in the “honeymoon period” where William 'mezii' Merriman had just joined the team. The newest player on the roster also took a hit in his individual performances, which perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise given the fact, that the Englishman is still fairly new on the team, and that the Vitality roster has just played 53 maps since he joined.

- Now I can’t be satisfied with how I have been playing. I think it could be 100% better. I hold myself to a high standard, like you say it was big shoes to fill (replacing Magisk), but I know what I'm capable of as an individual. It's just about getting comfortable. And like I say, it can be much better. Tournament wise as a team, we could do much better, William 'mezii' Merriman explained before commenting on his 1.00 rating in 2024.

- I know I need to bring a certain level to my individual performance. And, at the moment it for sure needs to be better. And I think that in practice, I'm showing definitely a lot more and feeling more comfortable in my roles now. Like you say, it's different from what I had in the past, but I think I have enough freedom, and enough space within this team to be able to perform at a better level than what I have shown already. There are improvements to be made, and hopefully, I can show it at this tournament.

ESL Pro League Season 19 is kickstarting the second half of the spring season, where Vitality is searching for its first tournament win of the year.

- As a team we want to get back into winning. And this is a tournament that we want to win. Of course, we want to show improvements, and that as well will satisfy us. But also winning a tournament is where we want to be, lifting a trophy is what we want to do, so that is a goal for us, William 'mezii' Merriman explained.

Vitality will kick off their Pro League tournament on Tuesday against the Brazilian team Sharks in Group B, that also features G2, BetBoom, and Team Falcons as the bigger teams in the mix.

The reigning Major champions from Team Vitality became the first team to deny FaZe a Grand Final win in CS2 with a stellar 2-0 win at the BLAST Fall Finals in Copenhagen. The win also ended FaZe’s incredible win streak of 18 matches.

A packed Royal Arena witnessed Team Vitality throw a curveball by picking Vertigo as the opening map of the series. Here Shahar 'flameZ' Shushan stole the show with a 23-7 K-D scoreline, while the Canadian star rifler Russel 'Twistzz' Van Dulken had an off-day only contributing with one kill during the 16 rounds it took Vitality to win 13-3.

The ending of the map was especially harsh for FaZe, who only managed to make two kills in total in the four rounds the second half lasted on their T side.

On Nuke it was a much more even fight, that the many spectators in the Royal Arena got to see. The difference maker here was Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut, who delivered an excellent CT half to keep Vitality in the match. On the T side, it was the two Israelis Shahar 'flameZ' Shushan and Lotan 'Spinx' Giladi that dominated. Vitality won 13-11 to seal the tournament win.

For newcomer William 'mezii' Merriman the Grand Final was not his best showing, but the Englishman can rejoice in the fact that he at the age of 25 won his first big LAN tournament in his career.

Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut was named MVP of the tournament. The French superstar was the highest rated player at the event with a 1.35 rating.

The Danish-French era is done and dusted at Team Vitality with the announcement of Emil "Magisk" Reif’s replacement. The Dane is expected to join Team Falcons alongside his two countrymen Danny "⁠zonic⁠" Sørensen and sports psychologist/performance manager Lars Christian Robl who made the same journey from Vitality earlier this year.

William "mezii" Merriman will take his place on the roster, which comes as no surprise given the fact, that mezii’s departure from Fnatic had already been made public. The 25-year-old Englishman had a two-year stint with Fnatic, where he has been one of the few lights in the sky for the struggling giants. Earlier in his career, mezii has played for GamerLegion, Cloud9, and Endpoint.

- Super excited to announce that I'll be joining Team Vitality. I'm so pumped to begin this new journey with these guys and spend countless hours grinding CS2 together, William "mezii" Merriman stated on his Twitter after the announcement video was released.

The first match for mezii on Vitality will be at the BLAST Fall Finals in Copenhagen starting 22nd of November.

The transfer of William "mezii" Merriman from Fnatic to Vitality came one step closer today with Fnatic announcing the departure of the Englishman from the roster.

- As you may have heard, William ‘Mezii’ Merriman will be leaving our team to further his career elsewhere, Fnatic tweeted before acknowledging his contributions to the roster during the past two years.

The now former Fnatic rifler is rumored to replace Emil "Magisk" Reif on Team Vitality. The Dane is expected to follow in Danny "zonic" Sørensen's footprints to Team Falcons in the near future.

In the second part of the tweet, Fnatic also stated its ambitions for the future. 

- We have significant ambitions in CS2 and have a lot of work ahead of us to build a world-class roster that can reach the absolute top. We will not rest in this mission and know this will require investment, which we’re prepared and ready to make. We are working with the central teams who work across our top Valorant and League rosters, to support these efforts as we seek a replacement and begin the path of upgrading our roster in the coming months.

25-year-old William "mezii" Merriman joined Fnatic in August 2021. Before that, he represented teams such as Endpoint, Cloud9, and GamerLegion.

Fnatic is set to compete in the BetBoom Dacha qualifier starting from the 11th of November.

The roster shuffle of the fall of 2023 is still ongoing and a new player on the market is shaking up things. Team Falcons is expected to bring in some of the best players in the world to try and conquer the world of CS2 in the coming years. The Saudi Organization is ready to splash some real money into the CS market, which will inevitably stir up the scene. 

One of their key targets is supposedly Emil "Magisk" Reif. The former Astralis and current Team Vitality player is rumored to follow in the footsteps of his coach Danny "zonic" Sørensen, who made the move from Vitality to Falcons earlier this fall. The website has seen the submitted rosters for the BLAST Fall Final in Copenhagen later this month. Here the Englishman has been listed on the Vitality roster alongside Emil "Magisk" Reif.

The transfer has not yet been confirmed by Vitality although small hints have been dropped by the players of Vitality.

During the ESL Pro League Season 17, FURIA took upon fnatic in the Playoffs round 1. A close encounter between the two teams was on the schedule with FURIA coming out on top and securing themselves a spot in round 2 after a 2-0 victory. 

On FURIA´s map pick ancient and behind 13-10, the fnatic IGL took things into his own hands as he singlehandedly took down four players of FURIA. With just the AK-17 and a great aim, mezii secured his team it's eleventh round.

In an intense match between fnatic and Eternal Fire at the ESL Pro League Season 17, fnatic’s captain, mezii, delivered a wonderful performance with an impressive play that broke down XANTARES and company. With the game at 14-13 in favor of fnatic, Eternal Fire attempted to take the B-site of Overpass, but they had not accounted for the skills of mezii.

Positioned perfectly on the side of the smoke on short, mezii took down four of Eternal Fire’s players with precision and quick reflexes. The fnatic IGL calmly waited for his opponents to pass through the smoke before striking his shots and shutting down their attempt to take the site.

This incredible play by mezii was a game-changer as it secured match point for fnatic, giving them a huge advantage. Eventually, Eternal Fire managed to push the game into overtime, but there, mezii and company kept composure and closed out the match with a 19-15 victory.

fnatic’s mezii spoke in the studio after their 2-0 victory over MIBR in the opening round of the ESL Pro League Group A. With a spot in the upper semi-finals secured, fnatic will now face Outsiders, who mezii describes as a tough opponent to face.

In the post-match interview, mezii talked about how the last time they played against Outsiders it felt like a bo5 because they are such a difficult and draining team to play against. The last time the two teams met was at IEM Katowice 2023, where fnatic secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory, following an overtime game on Overpass. mezii mentioned that the team felt relieved after that win, and that it definitely gives them the confidence that they can beat Outsiders once again. However, he also acknowledged that everything is different once you step onto the server.

The Elisa Masters Espoo 2022 event came to an end on Sunday, and it was fnatic who emerged on top to take home their first LAN title in over three years, following a dominant 2-0 victory over the Germans from BIG. With a 16-4 victory on Vertigo, fnatic went confidently into the second map of the series where they eventually crushed the BIG roster once again and wrapped up the series with a crushing 16-5 result to secure the title, an IEM Katowice 2023 play-in spot, and $100.000 in prize earnings.

fnatic’s William “mezii” Merriman finished as the series MVP, averaging a 1.61 Rating and 94.5 ADR across the two maps.

The first quarterfinal at IEM Rio Major is going to be a battle between the Swedes from Fnatic and the CIS squad Outsiders. It will also be the first match being played inside the massive Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro with a capacity of up to 18.000.

It’s only a week since their last meeting with the two teams clashing in the Challengers Stage. Here Dzami “Jame” Ali and Outsiders ended up on the winning side with a confident 2-0 win.

Fnatic has just confirmed the acquisition of Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgesen and Nico "⁠nicoodoz⁠" Tamjidi from Copenhagen Flames. The Danish duo is set to link up with Freddy "⁠KRIMZ⁠" Johansson and William "⁠mezii⁠" Merriman, still leaving one spot vacant.

Following the news about today’s transfer, Fnatic co-owner and Chief Gaming Director, Patrik “cArn” Sättermon also touched on the last remaining spot on the roster.

The Swedes from Fnatic are currently in a rebuilding phase with KRIMZ and mezii being the only two active players on the roster. However, there could very well be some interesting names joining the iconic team in the near future.

According to the CS:GO insider Aleksey "OverDrive" Biryukov, who has reported a series of big transfers in the past, Fnatic is set to sign “a minimum of two players” from Copenhagen Flames. By looking at the Fnatic roster and what they lack right now and what CPH Flames can offer, the 21-year-old AWPer Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi should be a great pick up and a no-brainer due to his impressive form in 2022 and his big potential.

Fnatic might not be at its highest peak right now, but Englishman William "mezii" Merriman is doing everything he can to help the legendary organization to better days. On Ancient against EC Kyiv, mezii took down the entire Ukrainian roster alone on the A site. The last match of the day had CIS-squad Entropiq going up against fnatic, where Entropiq took their fourth victory in group A with a 2-0 win. 

fnatic got off to a hot start on their map pick of Overpass, four kills from ALEX in the forcebuy round, helping to provide momentum for a 5-1 start. The European team quickly hit a stumbling block when Entropiq began to find their right footing to tie the score 7-7 and narrowly pull ahead 8-7 at the break. The CIS team kept their momentum on the T side, winning four rounds in a row before fnatic found their way to stabilize their defense and turned things upside down. It went back-and-forth before Entropiq closed out the first map of the series 16-13.

The match continued on Entropiq’s map pick of Vertigo, where the boys in black-and-orange took the pistol and quickly created a 3-0 advantage thanks to an inspiring William "mezii" Merriman performance. Entropiq fought back and ended up winning the half by making up for a 0-3 start, taking nine rounds in a row for a strong lead at halftime 10-5. Fnatic won the pistol in the second half, taking it to a 9-10 scoreline, but once the economy came up for the CIS squad, they began to retake control of the game up to match point. ALEX managed to keep fnatic alive with a 1v4 clutch and get them to 13, but it wasn’t enough as Entropiq closed the game 16-13 and the series 2-0.

The fight for 2nd and 3rd place is on in Group A at ESL Pro League after NIP earlier today secured first place in the group.

Two of the contenders went head to head in the second match of today, where Fnatic had the opportunity to take a big step towards reaching the playoff stage with a win. On the other side of the server, MOUZ needed a win to stay alive after having already lost twice in the group.

An Aurimas 'Bymas' Pipiras in top shape made it a possible scenario for MOUZ to take the win on the first map. On Nuke the Lithuanian was sensational and was ripping the defense from Fnatic apart in the first half. MOUZ continued after the break and won convincingly.

Fnatic went on to Inferno, where the assembled roster found momentum. William 'mezii' Merriman came in handy for Fnatic, who took control at the end of the map. A 16-10 win gave way for Mirage as the decider.

Here one of the new names in the Fnatic lineup, Matias 'Banjo' Kivistö showed up big time. In the first half, the Finn dug deep with a 17-5 K-D scoreline. An impressive performance from the stand-in player, who could see his team leading 10-5 at the break.

The second half started with a huge blow for MOUZ. A technical issue with NBK-'s screen left him playing while looking at a teammate's screen in a 1vs2 situation. The Frenchman lost the clutch attempt and MOUZ were on their way out of ESL Pro League. Valentin "poizon" Vasilev also chipped in to complete the huge impact made by the stand-ins for Fnatic, who won Mirage and is now very close to advancement.

MOUZ on the other hand is almost out of ESL Pro League. They need a lot of results to go their way later tonight and tomorrow to qualify.

The third day of ESL Pro League Season 15 Group A concluded with an exciting brawl between the star-studded G2 roster and the underdogs of fnatic. It was clear to everyone that it was G2's game to lose and that they were heavy favorites going into the Bo3-series. Things didn't go as you would expect, however. After a close first map on Inferno, fnatic completely stunned G2 with an impressive 16-2 victory on G2's own map pick. Carrying over the momentum, the third and final map of the series was equally as potent for the otherwise troubled fnatic roster. Thanks to stellar performances from the Bulgarian sniper "poizon" and the British rifler "mezii", G2 was contained from start to finish. The impressive upset from fnatic marks their second victory at the ESL Pro League Season 15. 

The first map of the Bo3-series was picked by fnatic and was set to take place on the soil of Inferno. Fnatic have proven themselves more than capable on Inferno and are currently sitting on an 80% win-rate (5 maps) in the past three months. G2, however, are no jokes themselves of Inferno and an intense brawl was on the cards between the two rosters. And intense it was. The first half was dominated by the G2 defense, as they proved a difficult obstacle for fnatic. At the scoreline of 10-5, an impressive comeback was needed from fnatic, in order of them standing a chance in the second half of Inferno. A masterclass from "poizon" almost proved enough for fnatic to post an incredible comeback, however, ultimately it was too late. At 16-14, it was G2 to close out Inferno and gain the advantage going into the second map of the series. 

The second map of the Bo3-series was the pick of G2 and saw the series head to Dust 2. Whilst it is, without any doubt, a map that favors the individual firepower of G2's roster, an in-form "poizon" could perhaps throw a spanner in the works. And that he most certainly did. An unreal performance from the Bulgarian sniper completely stunned the G2 roster and made them seem unable to do anything right. No matter where G2 opted to go on Dust 2, they were met with resistance from fnatic's defense. A stellar CT-sided half resulted in an impressive 13-2 lead going into the second half of Dust 2. All fnatic had to do on their T-side was to finish what they had started and they did exactly that. Without losing a single round in the second half it was fnatic to post a huge upset against G2 and force a third and final map. 

The third and final of the Bo3-series was set to be Mirage. Known for being a map that is very open and allows for many long-range aim-duels it seemed the perfect map for "poison" and his troops to carry over their momentum. Perhaps still tilted by the previous map, it was a discombobulated G2 roster to start Mirage. As if nothing had changed, it was once again fnatic to seem almost invincible. With "mezii" leading the charge this time it was fnatic to gain a huge lead at the halftime scoreline of 12-3. The second half was a less one-sided affair than the previous half, however, the result was ultimately the same. At the scoreline of 16-7, it was fnatic to take Mirage and claim victory against the heavy favorites of G2.
