FaZe, OG, and ENCE takes opening round wins
Everything is now on the line for Entropiq, who plays an early elimination match tomorrow.
Both FaZe and OG did as expected and won their matches in the opening round.
For Finn "karrigan" Andersen and FaZe it was almost cruise control in the first half, where is seemed like Justin "jks" Savage just slided in perfectly as the replacement for Robin "ropz" Kool, who is sidelined in the Play-in stage after testing positive for Covid-19. A 12-3 deficit was too much for Sprout in the second half, where the German team actually managed to test FaZe. It ended 16-12 in favor of FaZe, who are now matched up with MOUZ in the next round.
FaZe - Sprout 16-12
MVP: Håvard "rain" Nygaard - 1.67 rating
A very one-sided second half saw ENCE run away with the victory in the match against Entropiq. It was expected that the match would be a close one, but Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer proved to be an effective stop block for ENCE in the defense in the second half going 17-4 in the ten rounds in the second half!
Entropiq is now in real danger of being knocked out of the tournament later tonight.
ENCE - Entropiq 16-9
MVP: Lotan "Spinx" Giladi - 1.52 rating
OG had to work hard in their match against Renegades. After OG's impressive start to the 2022 season at BLAST Spring Groups, the roster came into the tournament with big expectations. Renegades served as the almost diametrical opposite without any big results in a long time. But on Mirage the two teams were hard to pick apart. Both managed to win their T-sides 10-5 to force the match to the first overtime at IEM Katowice.
Here OG won two CT rounds to set themselves up to finish the job on their T-side. A 19-16 victory puts OG through in the upper bracket, while Renegades will need to win against Entropiq tomorrow to stay alive in the tournament.
OG - Renegades 19-16
MVP: Jay 'Liazz' Tregillgas - 1.21 rating
