Disappointing performance - is OG due a change?
CS:GO Analyst Richard Lewis gives his take on OG's current situation
OG was one of the teams that unfortunately didn't last as long as they had hoped to in the IEM Katowice 2021 main event. After losing 2-0 in their BO3-series against Vitality they were set to play the newly formed FaZe roster for their survival. However, survival wasn't the case for OG as they had difficulties against FaZe and ultimately had to see themselves exit the tournament with another 2-0 loss.
After the disappointing performance at IEM Katowice 2021, one could question whether a change is due in the OG roster. If you ask CS:GO analyst Richard Lewis the answer is a resounding yes. Putting emphasis on how admirable it is that OG has stuck together for such a long period of time, Richard Lewis also states that it is time for a change:
"I think sometimes stability is admirable, I think it's so rare to see a roster stay together for as long as this, without making any meaningful changes, so you go okay that's great, but by now most rosters that have stuck together have shown improvement. That hasn't happened here, in fact, OG has got worse."
If a change is needed within the OG roster, many people, despite the fact that he was the only player for OG to achieve a positive rating at IEM Katowice 2021, point towards Issa "ISSAA" Murad, as the player needed to be replaced. Richard Lewis seems to agree as he explains why "ISSAA" is the obvious choice for a possible replacement:
"I just think he is the obvious guy, because with all the players in free agency, with all the players that you could go out and get right now, you could probably find a dozen of players that can do all the things he does, but better, and therefore you get an upgrade."
Whether or not OG are looking for changes in their roster or not, and whether it will be in form of a replacement of "ISSAA" is difficult to say, however, they are in need of something new and fresh in the upcoming future.
The OG roster currently looks as follows:
Issa "ISSAA" Murad
Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså
Nathan "NBK" Schmitt
Aleksi "Aleksib" Virolainen
Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski
