Brazilians off to great start in Copenhagen
paiN Gaming and Imperial won two surprising victories in the first round of the Major.
Both paiN Gaming and Imperial entered the PGL Copenhagen Major in the Opening Stage, where Apeks and ENCE were on the opposite side of the servers.
On Vertigo paiN Gaming got off to a great start leading 7-5 at the halftime against Apeks. In the second half, Rodrigo 'biguzera' Bittencourt and his Brazilian teammates delivered an excellent CT side to deny Apeks the win. The Semi-Finalist from the BLAST.tv Paris is now 0-1 down in the first stage of the Copenhagen Major.
Imperial and ENCE went head-to-head on Anubis in a thriller match that went all the way. Despite an 8-4 lead, ENCE lost control of the match on their CT side, where Imperial repeatedly won the duels on the map to reach two match points at 12-10. But then Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander and Paweł "dycha" Dycha both popped off in the last two rounds to secure overtime for ENCE. It took three overtimes before Imperial finally managed to defeat ENCE in a dramatic end to the match.
Both wins for the Brazilians were surprising and will undoubtedly shake up the matchups for the next rounds of the Swiss Group Format. Next round will start later tonight at 18.00 CET.
