BLAST denies Astralis to use new coach
Astralis’ Director of Sports, Kasper Hvidt confirms that they’re not allowed to use their new coach at the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown.
The first-team debut for Astralis’ Talent coach, Peter “casle” Ardenskjold, will have to wait as the 36-year-old Dane hasn’t been allowed to participate with the team on the server at BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2022 Europe, Astralis’ Director of Sports, Kasper Hvidt has confirmed.
Tough challenges for the Astralis camp there's been enough of in recent months, and now another one awaits the Danish giants ahead of an important event. When Gla1ve’s troops enter the server on Wednesday for a match against Eternal Fire, it will be without any kind of tactical input and help from their new first-team coach during the game. Because of Astralis’ dismissal of their former coach, Martin “trace” Heldt, they have opted out of the possibility of having a coach with them for the BLAST Showdown event according to the event organizer’s rules.
“ We have tried, but rules are rules, and that we accept of course. It means that casle won’t be allowed to talk with the players when a match is ongoing, but as a part of the crew, he can talk with the players before and after matches, and also between maps. So, we’re not completely without a coach.” – Kasper Hvidt told TV 2 Sport.
“There are different rules in online tournaments, and we have tried to play without a coach before, so the players know the routine and it won’t be a problem.”
Astralis applied for an exemption to the rule of substituting during a tournament, but BLAST rejected it. Therefore, casle, who was picked up from Astralis Talent after the dismissal of trace, won’t be making his debut for the first team this time.
