Astralis coach praises new 6-man strategy

Astralis were once again frontrunners when they back in 2020 announced the creation of a new 6-man roster, which will give the already dominant Danes a new advantage to exploit. A decision which meant that Lucas “Bubzkji” Andersen was implemented as a regular figure on the active roster, playing every Nuke map in a 2-month period.

However, that setup seems to have been refashioned, as Astralis coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen earlier this week disclosed that a change-up has been made regarding Bubzkji’s role on the team. Something, the renowned coach touches on like this by saying “ this is the first time that the tactical part of having a six-man team has really worked”

In yesterday’s matchup against mousesport, Astralis decided to go with Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth instead of Bubzkji with great success, with Astralis winning the map 16-8, and eventually also the entire series.

In an interview with Tv2 Sporten, zonic opens up about the deselection of Bubzkji and why he chose to go with Xyp9x instead.

“Our Nuke hasn’t been too pretty lately... And this is for me to see, the first time that the tactical part of having a six-man team has really worked."

The Astralis coach is clearly pleased with his new 6-man setup, and the renowned Dane continues by explaining some of the ideas and strategies behind their roster rotation.

"We need to think long-term and invest in the future. So, it's clear that 'Bubzkji' is a relatively young talent and I see a lot of potential in him. But he also has things to learn and I feel he has grown extremely much so far and shows a lot of maturity.”

Astralis is currently undefeated at IEM Katowice, where the Danes have beaten mousesports and Evil Geniuses in two dominant showings.
