All-time low! Astralis reach its worst ranking in team history
“Oh, how the mighty have fallen”
The Danes from Astralis has fallen outside the Top 20 on HLTV’s world ranking for the first time in the history of the organization. That became a reality after the ranking was updated yesterday.
Where Astralis once were among heavy hitters like NAVI, Liquid, and FaZe, the Danish side can now see themselves being ranked alongside lower-tier names such as Monte, Spirit and Bad News Eagles.
HLTV world ranking – April 24th, 2023
#1 Heroic | #13 OG |
#2 Vitality | #14 NIP |
#3 NAVi | #15 Fnatic |
#4 G2 | #16 FORZE |
#5 FaZe | #17 paiN |
#6 Cloud9 | #18 Complexity |
#7 Liquid | #19 9INE |
#8 FURIA | #20 Spirit |
#9 ENCE | #21 Astralis |
#10 Virtus.pro | #22 Monte |
#11 BIG | #23 BNE |
#12 MOUZ | #24 TheMogolz |
Two failed Major qualification
The disappointing ranking comes less than two weeks after Astralis’ fatal exit at the RMRs in Copenhagen, where they lost their chance to qualify for the coming, and last-ever CS:GO Major in history.
Something they not managed to do either at the previous Major in Rio de Janeiro at the end of last year.
Director of Sports at Astralis, Kasper Hvidt put out a statement saying that “this hurt” and that “there are no valid excuses for not living up to our own requirements and expectations. We have not done that, and now for the second time in our history we have to be spectators at a Major”, Hvidt stated.
Shifting rosters
According to HLTV, Astralis featured no less than ten different players since the start of last year, being a part of a longer period where it seemingly has been quite tough for the organization to decide and field a viable starting five.
Last week it was the veteran rifler Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth who saw himself being demoted to the academy team as he gave up his roster spot to Astralis Talent member Alexander “Altekz” Givskov until further notice.
