Fnatic has confirmed the benching of Owen "smooya" Butterfield.

The news broke out the day after Fnatic was eliminated from IEM Katowice, and judged from the Twitter post from Owen "smooya" Butterfield, the message was delivered in the airport on his way home.

According to Dexerto, the decision was already made prior to the elimination from the event.

- Dexerto knows that the decision to replace smooya was made before the team’s elimination from IEM Katowice and that Fnatic have already reached out to prospective new AWPers, with a decision expected to be made soon.
