Pimp: The signing of device is not enough for Astralis
Should Astralis look to add one more new addition to the roster?
One would think that acquiring a superstar AWPer with 4 Major titles, 19 MVP medals, and 26 notable trophies would solve all your problems on the server. If that is what Astralis is hoping for with today’s transfer of Nicolai “device” Reedtz then they are wrong.
At least if you ask CS:GO expert and analyst Jacob "Pimp" Winneche.
- device back in Astralis is a massive step in the right direction for Astralis- but I will admit that’s not enough, Pimp states in a video on his Twitter and continues:
- It’s not what’s going to propel Astralis into being the best team in the world again. There is still one, maybe even two roster changes I would like to see within the roster - depending on how they put the team together and which dynamics they are trying to build.
Maniac chimes in
Fellow expert and analyst, Mathieu “Maniac” Quiquerez agrees with Pimp saying Astralis still “has a way to go to put together a trophy-lifting team”
Is device ready to compete?
In the video, Pimp also touches on the concern from some people in the community about whether device would be ready to compete again, after having been on the sideline for the entire 2022 season - A concern that Pimp doesn’t share at all.
- Back then [when Pimp played with and against device] device was just more talented than all of us. To be completely honest, I never saw device as this hard grinder who put in all his hours in order to be better than us. Nah, he was just simply better. If I played 60 hours a week, device had to play 30 hours – and still be better than me. That’s one of the few aspects that will be super, super important to take note of with him coming back.
- device has this supernatural skill and this supernatural flair for the game that I think will benefit him greatly in his comeback. So, if your biggest concern is that device haven’t played for 12 months, then mark my words: He is one of the best-suited players to ignore that.
