OG coach: We have built a perfect balance between experience and hunger
OG went 5-0 at ESL Pro League in the group stage, but there is more to come from the team according to their coach, Casper "ruggah" Due.
One of the big positive surprises at this year's ESL Pro League has been the revitalized OG roster, that took down strong opponents as G2, Virtus.pro, and Complexity along the way. OG qualified directly for the Quarter-Finals at the tournament, where they will face the winner of mousesports vs Ninjas in Pyjamas.
The recent results came after a hectic 2021 for OG, who made the decision to bench both Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt, and Issa "ISSAA" Murad during the spring. Instead, Shahar "flameZ" Shushan, and Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen was brought in as replacements. A transition that is now five months old.
- Right now everyone has settled in, and we are harvesting the fruits from that. I think that everyone is more calm and more self-aware of what they need to do to make the team better, Casper "ruggah" Due, the coach of OG tells Pley.gg in a press conference before the playoffs.
In the latest update on the world rankings, OG is now back to being the 10th best team in the world. When asked about the potential of the roster, the Danish coach has no doubts, that OG can elevate even further.
- We build a perfect balance between experience and hunger. I expect us to continue to develop even after these five months and show an even better face of ourselves, the coach states.
At ESL Pro League OG is now among the favourites to go all the way. A fact that comes with benefits, not only for now but also for the future, if OG is able to make a deep run in the playoffs.
- Everyone knows what is happening, when you show, that you are a good team. Then people start respecting you and giving you more room on the server. Sometimes they also start fearing you a bit like Astralis had going for them all throughout the Major cycle, that they have been winning.
The Quarter-Finals at ESL Pro League will start on Thursday at 16.00 (CEST).
