k0nfig: I feel guilty and I am sorry
Earlier this week Astralis announced that Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke will be out of action for the IEM Road to Rio RMR A tournament.
The Danish powerhouse is facing a massive setback ahead of the important IEM Rio Major 2022: European RMR A, as their entry fragger in Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke has suffered a “complicated ankle fracture”, which will keep him out of action. That means that gla1ve’s men will fight at the event with one of their academy players instead, Mikkel “MistR” Thomsen, who has been submitted as Astralis’ substitute ahead of the roster deadline for the tournament.
For the 25-year-old Dane, this is not the first time in his CS:GO career that he’s unable to compete due to sudden accidents. About a year ago, k0nfig missed out at the ESL Pro League Season 14 event, with Complexity Gaming, as he suffered an accident that resulted in him breaking and fracturing his right wrist.
On September 21, k0nfig went to Twitter where he gave a message to his teammates and the rest of Astralis.
“I will use this unlucky period to restitute, find myself and come back with a stronger mindset and will power. I hate how this affects my teammates and everybody at Astralis. I feel guilty and I am sorry, but I know you will cope. And win! Good luck. My heart is with you.” – k0nfig wrote in a Twitter post.
Astralis will compete against the likes of G2, FaZe, Cloud9, and Ninjas in Pyjamas from October 4-9 in the RMR event. Out of 16 teams, only eight will advance to IEM Rio.
