G2 take down Copenhagen Flames
Copenhagen Flames looked very promising in the Challengers Stage but the legends of G2 were too much to handle.
In one of the opening matches of the Legends Stage, we have the Copenhagen Flames who went 3-0 in the Challengers Stage versus the star-stacked squad G2 in a Bo1.
Seeing as it is a Bo1 the map veto in this matchup was a bit surprising as the map left unbanned was Ancient. Even though G2 has looked comfortable on Ancient, Copenhagen Flames has looked nearly flawless winning over 80% of their 22 Ancients in the last three months. This was maybe a sign that G2 had noticed a flaw in the Danes approach of the map. G2 would start on the CT-side, meaning that the Copenhagen Flames would start out as terrorists.
G2 wanted to show dominance from the start and took the first round of the map - not surprising, having some of the best pistol players in the world. Their success was short-lived as the Flames took the win in the following force-buy. Throughout the first half, the Danes looked the strongest, but G2 did manage seven rounds as a result of big individual plays.
The second half started in the same fashion as the first, G2 taking the pistol and Flames taking the force-buy. The Danish squad then converted the following two, but were then broken by a great-looking G2 T-side, who then went on to take the rest of the rounds, and thus the map at 16-11.
This G2 team looks like someone you have to take absolutely seriously.
