FURIA eliminates OG from Blast Premier Fall Finals
By besting OG 2-1 the Brazilians will face either Vitality or NAVI next to fight for their survival
The match commenced like most of FURIA’s matches; On Inferno. The Brazilian team has over time developed into a pure Inferno killing machine, having a 15-3 score on the map since the start of September. It was, therefore, also quite the surprise when OG managed to set up a 5-0 lead early on the first map of Inferno, after a strong pistol round by “valde” and OG.
FURIA was able to turn the game around and concluded the half on a 9-6 score,
through their continuous T-side aggression, where especially Yuri “yuurih” Santos strived. The Brazilian rifler brought his strong game with him into the second half, where FURIA quickly secured the map 16-9. “Yuurih” ended the map with a 1.44 rating, 23-13 K-D, and 92.2 ADR
The second map was set to take place on OG’s map pick Mirage. Despite Furia winning the first two rounds OG quickly answered them back, showed exactly why Mirage was their map pick and walked away to halftime with a 10-5 lead.
OG carried through their momentum from the first half and secured map-point at 15-6. A Furia pressed against the wall, however, didn’t give up just yet. Furia have made many comebacks in their time and was about to repeat the success. It took a scoreline of 15-13 for OG to turn on their engines and close map two on Mirage. With “Aleksib” finding himself on top of the leaderboard with 23 kills OG close out the map with a 16-13 victory.
The third map and final map to decide which of the two teams will have to exit the tournament took place on Nuke. A close battle was expected as neither of the rosters are strangers to the map. Furia piled on the pressure from their t-side and the two rosters exchanged rounds in close battle which lead to a halftime score of 9-6 favoring Furia.
OG was by no means out of the question on Nuke and fought a brave fight against the Brazilians. In the end, however, Furia bested the European roster of OG and eliminated them from BLAST Premier Fall Finals with a 16-12 victory on Nuke.
