FaZe keeps playoff dreams alive with win against Sprout
It was all-or-nothing for both FaZe and Sprout in the last match of the day at ESL Pro League.
The IEM Katowice champions from FaZe have been a shadow of themselves at the ESL Pro League so far. The star-studded roster has lost their two opening matches at the event. Needless to say, the pressure was on karrigan's troops before their encounter with Sprout.
The German team had also lost their first two games in Group B against FURIA and Team Vitality. Today they picked Ancient to start the fight with FaZe. But the pick quickly backfired, as ropz, Twistzz, and broky delivered a beautiful CT-side to almost completely deny Sprout any rounds in the first half. A 12-3 lead got converted to a 16-9 win before moving to Inferno.
Again it was FaZe with the upper hand in the first half. The MVP of IEM Katowice, Helvijs 'broky' Saukants once again proved his worth to the roster with a very strong map. The Latvian AWP'er has been the best FaZe player in their first two matches and looked to extend that record today with a third.
In the second half on Inferno, FaZe shut down Sprout's hope of at least winning one map (which would have kept them alive in the tournament). Another stellar CT-side pushed FaZe to win the map and the match in safe style.
Tomorrow FaZe is set to play another win-or-go-home match against Team Vitality. Both teams are 1-2 in the tournament.
