Astralis qualifies for BLAST Premier Fall Finals after spectacular comeback
The Danes will now play Team Vitality for 1st place in the group.
The action started on Vertigo, where Team Liquid quickly established a big lead. It was the T-side from Gabriel 'FalleN' Toledo and his men, that made the difference and secured them the map.
Astralis got off to a similarly good start on their map pick, Nuke. They repeated yesterday’s solid T-side against Team Vitality with an 11-4 lead. But unfortunately, the copy-paste from yesterday continued for the Danes, who once again showed big holes in their defense. Team Liquid made it all the way to 11-12 before Astralis had an answer ready. The newest member of the Danish roster, Philip 'Lucky' Ewald made a couple of important opening kills to set his team up. Andreas 'Xyp9x' Højsleth took upon the role to finish the rounds and suddenly the Danes were up to speed again and won the map.
Dust2 was set as the decider. In a game of "T-sides", Astralis got off to a great start with four CT rounds in a row. But Team Liquid started to find holes in the defense of Astralis. The B-site was a major problem for the Danes, who could not control the aggressive NA team, who stormed through to a 10-5 lead at the break.
The second half gave all the spectators the action, that they could have hoped for. Despite losing the pistol round, Astralis once again proved, that they indeed are the arch-nemesis of Team Liquid. The Danes amounted to an incredible comeback to win their 11th match in a row against the North Americans. In the starring role for the Danes was Philip 'Lucky' Ewald, who proved all the haters wrong with an impressive performance. Astralis plays Team Vitality later tonight for the 1st place in the group.
