Astralis back to playing Overpass?
Have Astralis updated their map-pool during the break?
Historically the map of Overpass has always been a strong map for the Danish Astralis roster. However, in 2020 it was only their sixth most played map having been played by the Danes 22 times in the last 12 months.
Not surprisingly Astralis' most played maps the last 12 months have been Nuke (44 times) and Inferno (42 times) closely followed by the iconic map of Dust2, having been played 40 times.
Astralis is currently battling against Vitality for a spot in the Grand Final of BLAST Premier Global Finals 2020 and to many people's surprise, Astralis picked Overpass as their map pick against the French Vitality. When looking at Astralis' win-rate across maps, however, this shouldn't be much of a surprise. In the last 12 months, Overpass is their second most successful map with a win-rate of 68,2% only beaten over on Inferno with an impressive win-rate of 76,2%. Whether or not the pick of Overpass against Vitality is going to be the recipe for success is uncertain, but one thing is for sure, it makes for an interesting BO3-series between the world's number 1 and 2.
Perhaps this is the start of an updated map-pool for the Danes and with a phenomenal Inferno as well, the inclusion of Overpass to their map-pool will surely mean a more diverse Astralis roster, ready for what the 2021 season will have to bring.
