A three-year stint in European Counter-Strike is over for Christopher "dexter" Nong, who was announced as a new Grayhound player today.

The Australian in-game leader returns to Grayhound, where he played in 2017-19. Here he will bring experience from playing at MOUZ and Fnatic since 2021. At MOUZ “dexter” came close to bringing home trophies at IEM Dallas 2023 (2nd place) and at the IEM Rio Major in 2022 (3-4th place).

- Happy to be back with my boys! Thought long and hard on this one to stay in eu or not, but in the end to develop my self back to where I know I am and improve the scene here I chose my original home, dexter tweeted shortly after the announcement. 

At Grayhound he will replace Simon "⁠Sico⁠" Williams, who left the team yesterday after having spent five years on the team. Christopher "dexter" Nong will be reunited with two former teammates in Joshua "INS" Potter and Jay "Liazz" Tregillgas, while it will be the first time that he teams up with Alistair "aliStair" Johnston and Declan "Vexite" Portelli.

Grayhound is the number 1 ranked team from Oceania at the moment with Rooster and VERTEX as the two closest rivals. On the world ranking Grayhound is currently ranked 36th.

Fnatic announced the two new additions yesterday on Twitter.

Aurélien "afro" Drapier replace Nico "nicoodoz" Tamjidi as the new AWP'er on the team. This will be the first international team for afro, who has played professionally for Team LDLC, DBL Poney, and HEET in his career. The Frenchman is joined by Christopher "dexter" Nong. The former MOUZ in-game leader will take over the IGL role from William "mezii" Merriman, who can now focus on the Rifler role. The Australian replace Dion "FASHR" Derksen, who moved to OG last week.

The new Fnatic roster will play their first game at the IEM Cologne Play-in event in two weeks' time.

That’s the hard reality MOUZ has to face after their catastrophic campaign in the French capital, where they did not manage to win a single map, and yesterday was thrown out by GamerLegion in a clear 2-0 loss.

MOUZ captain Christopher "dexter" Nong took his time to speak with BLAST right after the loss, where he was clearly upset about the early exit.

- It’s pretty shit. We worked really hard and everyone kind of deserves the most. But it’s the Major so someone had to lose, and today it just had to be us… There is a lot of pressure in these tournaments and we expected a lot of ourselves, and when it comes down to situations like this it’s heartbreaking.

- Both of these teams [MOUZ’s first two opponents; NIP and OG] deserve it a bit more than we did in those games. We did not play particularly well at any time, so it's completely fair that we are out to be honest.

- Maybe it's the nerves and the pressure that get to us a bit. You just can't depend on people to deliver individually all the time. You have to have some team play and some routine to fall back on, and that just totally fell through today and yesterday, sycrone said to Dust2.dk.

MOUZ

During the ESL Pro League S17, MOUZ took upon SAW in their opening match at the event. Starting the series off on Vertigo MOUZ dominated the Portuguese team on the CT side. Despite all the great plays made by the young and talented roster, it was their IGL Christopher "dexter" Nong who took the headlines in the newspaper.

Up 10-3 on the favored CT side dexter took the Deagle to another level. Peaking alone against five looked like a suicide mission but ended up being a heroic play by the Australian veteran. dexter took down five players of SAW with just the Deagle in his hand.

MOUZ and ENCE opened Day 5 of the Legends Stage, where the three remaining tickets for the Champions Stage are at stake.

Ancient, Nuke, and Mirage was set as the playgrounds for the two teams. The first two maps took no time on the server to be settled. Both MOUZ and ENCE were too strong on their own map pick. A power outage was the only thing delaying the inevitable matchup on Mirage.

On Ancient David 'frozen' Čerňanský played brilliantly in both halves to leave no chance for ENCE to get anything going. Then things turned with ENCE smashing through the defense of MOUZ to set themselves up for a clear 16-8 win on Nuke.

Mirage was left as the decider, and for the first time in the match a CT half was won. ENCE took an 8-7 lead to the second half, but here everything fell apart. A stellar defense from MOUZ spearheaded by in-game leader Christopher "dexter" Nong saw them take the lead 13-8 before ENCE finally found a crack in the defense. But dexter was unstoppable! The Australian had never qualified for a Major playoff before, but today was the day! With 32 kills dexter made all the difference for MOUZ who won the match, and secured the team a spot among the last eight of IEM Rio.

David "frozen" Čerňanský gave a lot of credit to in-game leader Christopher "dexter" Nong for his calling during the match against Vitality. 

MOUZ has been one of the best teams at IEM Rio especially on their T side, where a lot of teams are having big problems in the current CT meta game. We spoke with David "frozen" Čerňanský after the win against Team Vitality.

In Group B MOUZ have joined Heroic, OG, and Team Vitality on a 2-1 score after their win today against K23.

On Ancient we got another reminder of the power of the CT side with MOUZ leading 13-2 at the break. And despite a good effort from K23, the CIS roster was not able to prevent MOUZ from winning three rounds on their T-side to seal the deal.

MOUZ's Australian in-game leader Christopher 'dexter' Nong was the player of the match with 26-14 in K-D. The loss for K23 now puts them in danger of elimination tomorrow.

After the match, we spoke with Aurimas "Bymas" Pipiras, who was thrilled with the victory, but also had time to praise his in-game leader Christopher "dexter" Nong for his calls and his influence on the team.

- He is underrated for sure. Honestly, if you put him with the superstars of CS, every tournament would be won. His calls are really good, it is just sometimes that the micro-adjustments from us, the players, we are still inexperienced and it is hard for him to call sometimes because maybe we don't communicate so good. But if we (the players) do our part, then everything is good. 

The Lithuanian points at the mid-round calling as something that the Australian is very good at.

- He really likes to do it. We barely have strats that we do from the start, we have something, but he then takes information from each player and adjusts the call.

MOUZ will play Team Vitality later tonight in the lower bracket of IEM Cologne.

MOUZ, whilst it isn't an all-German roster, is an organization with deep German roots and a German team behind them. A great performance at IEM Cologne would therefore mean a lot for the MOUZ organization and they might just have what it takes to go far at the event. 

The opening game for MOUZ against paiN was perhaps not easy as expected. The Brazilians are notorious for being difficult to play against and although "dexter" states that he found they played a more "European style of Counter-Strike", it is never easy taking down an all-Brazilian roster. In overtime, however, MOUZ managed to remain composed and secure the important rounds to take home the victory, something that MOUZ according to "dexter" have improved at:

In the final set of Bo1-series for the day, Outsiders (virtus.pro) faced MOUZ in a battle for a much-needed victory. Both teams were sitting on a 1-1 record before locking horns on the server today, and a victory could prove instrumental for their run at the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 Europe RMR A event. A close battle ensued between the two tier-one rosters and it became apparent immediately that a close game was on the cards. Ultimately, MOUZ proved the slightly stronger roster on the day and at the scoreline of 16-12, they managed to secure a crucial victory against Outsiders. 

The map that the two teams decided on came to be Inferno. The map of Inferno is one of the most played maps in the history of Counter-Strike and neither team can be said to be unfamiliar with the Italian soil. Despite this, however, it was the Outsiders who were slightly favored going into the brawl. A close first half concluded as close as possible at the scoreline of 8-7. 

Whilst it was difficult to determine the better team in the first half of Inferno, the second half was far far more one-sided. A stellar CT-sided performance from MOUZ, led by their aggressive IGL in "dexter", proved too difficult for Outsiders to break down. At the scoreline of 16-12, it was MOUZ to upset the favored Outsiders roster and secure a crucial victory for themselves.

PGL Major Antwerp 2022 Europe RMR A - Overview (fnatic vs SAW: 0-1) 

Whilst the game between MOUZ and Outsiders was underway, another Bo1-series took place over on the PGL B-stream between SAW and fnatic. Just like MOUZ and Outsiders, both SAW and fnatic were sitting on a 1-1 record before meeting each other on the server. Despite being favorites, fnatic had to see themselves bested at the scoreline of 16-10 after a confident and cohesive team performance from the Portoguese roster. 

Outsiders

The last two matches of the day and the last two chances to secure a spot at IEM Katowice had MOUZ going up against Entropiq, while NIP took on Movistar Riders.

The Bo3 started on MOUZ’s pick of Vertigo and saw the European squad take an early lead of 3-1 on their T-side. The Russians of Entropiq answered back fast, and soon the score was tied at 4-4. The rest of the half was extremely one-sided as stand-in “JDC”, and IGL “dexter” kept finding opening frags, which resulted in a satisfying 10-5 lead at halftime for MOUZ.

Entropiq torpedoed their way back into the map as soon as they hit the T-side, seven of the first eight rounds after the break, thereby taking back the lead. MOUZ threw a couple of different looks at the Russians, which netted them some early map control and frags, which saw them secure map point at 15-14. Entropiq weren’t able to push the map into overtime, and MOUZ take the map win after thirty rounds.

Down 0-1 in maps, Entropiq got off to a great 3-0 start on their map pick of Ancient. But the CT-side of Ancient can sometimes be very dominant, and that’s what MOUZ started showing after their bad start. It was once again “JDC” and “dexter” leading the way, with solid B-site holds, while “torzsi” also had a great performance on the AWP. This resulted in a ten-round win streak for MOUZ before the Russians were able to stop the streak and take the last two rounds for themselves.

The European squad continued their dominance in the second half and quickly found themselves at map- and match point, with nine rounds to close it out. Entropiq weren’t able to make the miracle comeback, and MOUZ steal the Russians’ map pick at 16-6.

MOUZ thereby secure their spot at IEM Katowice, while Entropiq will have to watch from the sidelines.

On the b-stream, we had NIP playing versus Movistar Riders, and it was the Swedes that came out on top after taking down the Spaniards in two maps. 

The action began on Movistar's pick of Vertigo where NIP were able to secure the win at 16-9. The stand-out performer was the always consistent IGL Hampus "hampus" Poser who greatly influenced the game with his impact. The score was dead-even at halftime at 8-7, but as soon as NIP hit the T-side they blew away the competition.

The second map of Overpass was even more lopsided than the first one, as the Swedes were able to win that at 16-6. Movistar Riders did start out best taking the lead 2-0 and 3-1, but after that, it was all downhill for them as the Ninjas mowed them down. Especially Patrick "es3tag" Hansen and Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez Zamora had a great game, which facilitated the extremely dominating win for the Swedes.

NIP thereby secured their spot at IEM Katowice, while Movistar Riders had to leave empty-handed.

There is a lot at stake in today's matchup between MOUZ and MAD Lions at DreamHack Open November 2021, with the loser of the match being eliminated. The thrilling battle will go live at 16.00 CET).

BIG and mousesports fought out a grueling match for a spot in the playoffs at ESL Pro League. Both teams came into the match with two wins and two defeats and needed one last win to advance. 

For mousesports the recipe for advancement was simple. A win against BIG. For the Berlin-based team, the route was more complicated.

On Nuke it got even more difficult for BIG. A good playing mousesports side took control of the map nicely assisted by their Australian in-game leader Christopher 'dexter' Nong. The former Renegades player was not only top fragging, but he also managed to get his teammates to perform collectively. mouz drew first blood with a 16-12 win.

On to BIG's map pick, Dust2. Here Florian 'syrsoN' Rische and his Scout/AWP came into play. The German sniper was instrumental in BIG's 16-7 victory, which was bigger on paper than reality. A third and deciding map was coming up.

But while the two teams entered the battleground on Mirage, there was bad news for BIG. Both FaZe and Evil Geniuses had lost their matches, which made any advancement for BIG impossible. The match had big implications for the rest of the group though. FaZe was cheering for BIG, while mousesports still had it in their own hands.

BIG made it 8-7 in the first half, but in the second half, the Slovakian dangerman David 'frozen' Čerňanský made all the difference for mousesports, who helped his team make the last push towards victory and a spot in the playoffs after a brawl on Mirage.

After an overtime win on Nuke, mousesports claimed all three points in their match against Fnatic.

mousesports began ESL Pro League Season 14 rather disappointing, as they suffered two defeats against FaZe and NAVI in the first two rounds in Group C. Something that placed them at the bottom of the table and in danger of an early exit.

However, after yesterday’s important win over Evil Geniuses and their win today against Fnatic, mousesports are suddenly back in contention for the playoff spots.

Christopher “dexter” Nong and the rest of mousesports secured the 2-0 by snatching Fnatic’s map pick on Mirage after a strong showing by the Australian in-game leader who both called the shots and hit the shots. They cemented the overall victory on Nuke, where it required an OT-battle before mouz could call themselves victors.

In February this year Christopher “dexter” Nong made a huge decision, which not only affected his career but also was a life-changing move. The profiled Aussie decided to leave his home soil of Australia and the safe environment he was living in, to move to Germany and to sign with mousesports.

The 26-year-old saw himself taking over from the superstar IGL Finn “karrigan” Andersen on the iconic team, as they entered a rebuilding phase. dexter has now been at mouz for six months, where his biggest accolade so far has been their win at Flashpoint 3.

dexter joined mousesports after having played for the regional mastodonts from Renegades for almost two years. Under the strong banner, dexter developed into a renowned in-game leader who mastered the leading aspect of the game but also managed to deliver frag after frag on the server.

mousesports' next event will be ESL Pro League Season 14, which is set to begin on Monday. dexter and company will kick off their campaign against their old acquaintance in karrigan and his new team FaZe on the 27th of August.

Renegades

In mid-February this year, Christopher "dexter" Nong left his home country of Australia to start a new chapter in his career in Germany, and more specifically at the iconic mousesports-org. With the move, the 26-year-old Aussie got a much more profiled team under his guidance, where one particular player has impressed him highly.

In an interview with Pley, the mousesports IGL express his admiration of playing together with ropz and how he believes that the rifler belongs to the very elite within CS:GO.

- I respect and admire ropz as a player a lot. He’s very dedicated and has a huge understanding of the game. I learn so much from him and the team. It’s nice to play with, what can I say, a guy that can just use the space the team gives him and punishes people for mistakes. – And I personally think he’s already in the top 4 best players in the world.

dexter also touches on his own start at mousesports, where he and the team have managed to take home strong titles at Flashpoint 3 and Snow Sweet Snow 3.  

- It has definitely elevated me as a leader. In my own opinion, I have far to go and I know where I need to work on. My stats have dropped off, due to playing 100% new positions on CT-side, but it is what it is. I’m always self-evaluating myself and the impact and what I can do better to improve.

mousesports' next event will be the important ESL Pro League Season 14 which is set to kick off at the 16th of August. The German team are placed in Group C alongside the likes of fnatic, BIG and NAVI and will play their first game on the 27th this month.

Bymas, acoR, frozen, dexter, and ropz put on some CS:GO highlight reel worthy displays, beating fnatic, G2, Astralis, and Ninjas in Pyjamas on their way to the crown.

The renowned analyst, Richard Lewis admits he was wrong about mousesports, after previously saying that they were a ‘dead team’, and that ‘in the absence of karrigan they would become directionless.’ Richard Lewis also gives a shoutout to some of mouz’ standouts at the vent, namely the Estonian predator, ropz.

Mousesports seemed almost unbeatable at the, just finished, Flashpoint 3 event. Since losing their former in-game leader "karrigan" many mousesports fans feared that the team would fall apart. This, however, has not been the case whatsoever. The current in-game leader Christopher "dexter" Nong has proven his critics wrong and managed to build a strong foundation for his roster. Mousesport can call themselves the winner of Flashpoint 3, after beating a fierce NiP in the Grand Finals.

Besides winning as a team the individuals of mousesports have been absolutely phenomenal throughout the tournament. With both David "frozen" Čerňanský and Robin "ropz" Kool ending the event with a +1.30 rating and finishing first and second place respectively, it is clear to see why mousesport became the winners of Flashpoint 3. 

Whilst "ropz" is known to be mousesports' star rifler it was especially "frozen" who stole the show at Flashpoint 3. Performing at the highest of levels he managed to secure himself his first official MVP medal, due to his impressive overall rating of 1.35 throughout the entire event. 

Whether or not the mousesports roster, led by "dexter", will be able to continue their incredible form is unknown, however, it seems that the new in-game leader has sparked something incredible and woken the beast of "frozen".

The new mousesports project, led by the Australian in-game leader Christopher “dexter” Nong, took down their biggest scalp yet, when they yesterday grabbed the title at the prestigious Flashpoint 3. The German team concluded the RMR event in nearly perfect fashion, only giving up one single map throughout the tournament.

One of the big bright spots, was the revelation and blossom of the before mentioned IGL in dexter. The former Renegades captain has not only improved his own level significantly, but he has also managed to unfold his promising superstar duo of frozen and ropz.
