FURIA secure playoffs spot in Stockholm with victory over Entropiq
The Brazilians become the third team to secure a spot in the playoffs after beating Entropiq 2-0 in the Legends stage.
FURIA are through to the playoffs at the PGL Major in Stockholm, following a 2-1 victory over the Russians from Entropiq in the fourth round of the Swiss stage. The Brazilians join NAVI and G2 in the Champions stage, while Entropiq will get another chance to qualify for the playoffs.
The action started on Entropiq’s map pick of Vertigo, where the Brazilians from FURIA played as close to perfect as possible. arT and company stamped their authority on the map by stringing together ten consecutive rounds in a row to go up 10-2 on the scoreboard, despite losing the first two rounds. The Russian-side managed to grab another two rounds before FURIA ended the first half with an impressive 11-4 advantage. While the Russian side were able to take the second pistol round, FURIA continued their dominant performance and with the help of VINI closed out the map 16-6. The 22-year-old Brazilian finished on top of the scoreboard with 27 frags and 108.9 ADR.
Entropiq surprisingly answered back by stealing FURIA’s map pick of Nuke considering how dominant the Brazilians looked on the first map. The Russian-side delivered a wonderful team performance and fought a brave battle all the way to the end, despite losing seven rounds on the defensive side. El1an and company only allowed FURIA to grab one round in the second half, before they closed out the map 8-16 to tie up the series and force the decider.
The Russians kicked off the decider of Anicent on the right foot, grabbing the first two rounds of the map. However, FURIA quickly picked themselves up and stabilized their defense to go up 8-3 on the scoreboard. Entropiq managed to get back into the half and take a few rounds, but weren’t able to secure the last remaining round of the half, as FURIA went to halftime with a 9-6 advantage. FURIA came out in full force on the T side and showed their offensive prowess on the map with yuurih shining as he helped his team extend their lead to 14-6, on the back of an outrageous 1v4 clutch. Entropiq made a heroic effort to come back into contention, but were ultimately denied by arT, who won a 1v1 situation against Krad on match point to secure the series for his team.
