The Brazilians eliminate Heroic from IEM Global Challenge!
FURIA took the last map of the series by completely dominating Heroic out of the server and will now fight for playoffs in the tournament.
FURIA took home the victory in the elimination game against the Danes from Heroic in their first-ever matchup against each other. The Brazilians will move further on in the tournament and take on the loser of Liquid vs. NAVI, while Heroic leaves the tournament with $20.000 and a 7-8th place.
Mirage:
16-13 (FURIA)
The match began on FURIA's map pick of Mirage, a map which Heroic have won in their three previous showings. However, it was FURIA who came out the best by taking the pistol round and a solid 3-0 lead. Heroic came back through some brilliant CS from Casper “cadiaN” Møller and Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen, and managed to take an 8-7 lead going into the second half.
On the CT-side Andrei “arT” Piovezan showed relentless aggression, by pushing mid and especially B-apartments round after round. It was clear that Heroic, couldn’t figure out the aggressive CT-side by FURIA, and the Brazilians could therefore grab a solid 16-13 win on the first map. A map that was back and forth and included a lot of close clutches.
Nuke:
25-22 (Heroic)
It looked like, the defeat on Mirage ruined the entire Heroic roster and their motivation. Because Nuke was a completely different battle than the first. The Danes did at no point manage to pressure FURIA, who easily cruised through the Heroic CT-defence. The Brazilians were so confident, that Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo decided to end the half with an impressive knife kill, to set the score at 10-5.
cadiaN’s troops displayed better performance in the second half, and through some vital 1v2 and 1v1 clutches and strong bombsite hold, they managed to bring the match into overtime.
Overtime was a hectic back and forth battle, where the two teams couldn’t agree on a winner. cadiaN demonstrated his incredible AWP abilities to keep Heroic in the game and put another OT on the board. The Danes completed the comeback, presenting the 25-22 in the third OT through a complete thriller of a clutch by the Heroic IGL.
Vertigo:
16-4 (FURIA)
The Brazilians came out on top of the final map of the series, as they completely dominated Heroic out of the server and wrapped up the series 2-1. Heroic only managed to get 4 rounds in total and didn’t find their footing against an aggressive FURIA squad, who always was in their face powering through. Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato was the most noticeable player on the last map, delivering a 21-9 K/D that led his team for this dominating victory.
