Do you know the meme “This is fine”? A dog is sitting in a house that is engulfed in fire while watching passively as the world is burning. It was sort of the same scenario for both René "TeSeS" Madsen and Rasmus 'sjuush' Beck back in the fall of 2023 when they saw the successful HEROIC lineup fall apart after Martin "stavn" Lund and Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard left the team in turmoil.

- It was a hard period. Everything went so quick from one thing to another thing, and suddenly it was just me and René "TeSeS" Madsen on the team. I felt like since Casper 'cadiaN' Møller was out, and the first step was taken, you just didn’t feel motivated, because you didn’t see any future. But since we got this team from the start of January, I felt way better both mentally and, in my body, Rasmus 'sjuush' Beck explained in an online interview with Pley.gg before the start of HEROIC’s journey at ESL Pro League Season 19.

The former MAD Lions player was one of the least vocal players on the old Heroic lineup, but that is something that has changed since the dramatic months last year.

- I can feel that I want to take more charge and more initiative and take some space as well. In the old team I didn’t feel like I had that much space to take because we were so many voices, and if everyone speaks, there would be so much chaos. I just kind of gave up that space to give the space to the other guys, because they honestly did a good job as well. In this team I have so much that I can bring to the team, and I think I am doing a big difference.

What did you learn from the situation and all the drama that happened last fall in HEROIC?

- I think it’s taking more responsibility and believing in myself, that I am also smart, and that I can bring something to team as well. Because I felt like we were missing so many things on the last team, that I tried to bring, but didn’t get listened to. I feel like on this team, everyone listens to pretty much everything that I have to say, and it builds more confidence in myself, that every single day I can bring something, and people just take it in. So, it’s a really good feeling that I have in my body when I am able to do that.

When asked to give an example of some of the things, that Rasmus 'sjuush' Beck had not been able to come through with on the old HEROIC lineup, the 25-year-old mentioned communication as a focal point.

- It could be how you communicate with your teammates in pressured moments. Do you have to have a calm voice, how do you need to think about what words you are choosing, and what that can do for the team? If it doesn’t do anything, then you shouldn’t say it, because it doesn’t matter. That’s something I tried to do on the old team, where it became too much sometimes.

HEROIC’s new lineup is four months old now, and has yet to deliver on the same level as the previous roster. At the Major in Copenhagen, HEROIC reached the Elimination Stage but suffered a humiliating defeat in their first elimination match, where paiN won a comfortable victory.

At ESL Pro League, HEROIC is set to face a decimated Ninjas in Pyjamas roster, who are missing Fredrik "REZ" Sterner, who is out with a virus infection.

Eternal Fire has given up eight rounds so far at the PGL Copenhagen Major! A 13-6 victory against TheMongolz and a 13-2 win against paiN has catapulted Eternal Fire into the 2-0 bracket with ease.

On Anubis, it was pure dominance from the start until the end for the Turks, who didn’t take long to put paiN down to the 1-1 bracket.

Heroic on the other hand had to go through overtime to secure the win against Imperial. Lucas 'decenty' Bacelar proved difficult for Heroic to handle, but in the end, they managed to pull through on Mirage and win 16-14.

In the 0-1 games, Apeks and ECSTATIC won their matches to continue playing bo1 games tomorrow, while AMKAL and TheMongolz could already face elimination after losing both matches today.

Eternal Fire

During the ESL Pro League S17 Group B upper bracket final, Heroic took upon MOUZ. 

Up 1-0 in maps but down 10-6 on the second map, Heroic shows a great example of playing against all odds. In a 2vs3 after-plant situation on the B site, two Heroic players with just pistols managed to take down all three players of MOUZ to steal away the round.

Heroic has since December 17th been the world's number one on the HLTV World Ranking list. Heroic played well during the last four months of 2022 and has since then not been looking back. The Danish powerhouse has in recent months extended its contracts with all five players following their recent success. 

sjuush and the rest of Heroic have been very happy with the decision of removing Dust2 to instead take in Anubis. With Dust2 being out of the way, the Heroic perm ban is nowhere to be seen. sjuush believes that with Dust2 out of the way their map pool is becoming significantly more substantial as they can now play all seven maps in the active map pool. 

-  It will give us a very big edge, yeah. Rasmus "sjuush" Beck has extended his contract with his current team Heroic. A two-year deal that will keep the rifler under the Heroic banner. The news came just one day after Heroic was eliminated from the last tournament of the year BLAST World Final. 

Heroic also signed the young Jakob "jabbi" Nygaard back in June and has since become a part of the world's best. The Danes managed to play in the IEM Rio Major final as well as winning the BLAST Premier Fall Final on home ground.

- I think they were overthinking a little bit, I think every single team does that against us because they know how we would like to play.

The Danish squad from Heroic faced off against Jame and company from Outsiders on Overpass, where Rasmus “sjuush” Beck showed class and made sure his team came out on top of the matchup.

Heroic started their Major campaign with a wonderful CT side half, cruising to a dominant 13-2 lead. A lot would have to go wrong for the Danish side to throw such a big lead away, and even though Outsiders started things off on the right foot in the second half, it never became dangerous enough to affect cadiaN’s troops. Heroic's sjuush delivered 26 frags in total and finished off with a stellar 1.66 Rating.

With the main IEM Cologne event starting in just three days, we need to find out what teams will be competing against each other. To do so, the IEM Cologne Play-In event kicks off today. Teams of the highest caliber will go head-to-head in the exciting Bo1-series format and try to earn their ticket to the main event. In the first round of Bo1-series, Heroic battled against Sprout. Needless to say Heroic were the heavy favorites going into the Bo1-series and for good reason. Without too much difficulty the Danes took down Sprout. 

The map chosen for the brawl between the Danes of Heroic and Sprout came to be Overpass. Known to be a great map for Heroic, due to its possibilities for creative and fast rotations on both sides of the map, it seemed as if it was the Danes to take home before things even got going. Once the two rosters locked horns on the server, that suspicion came true. A phenomenal T-side with "sjuush" playing out of his mind meant a 12-3 lead going into the second half of Overpass. After having switched sides, the rest was a formality. Without dropping a single map on their CT-side, Heroic claimed victory and secured their first success at IEM Cologne at the scoreline of 16-3.

Despite the fact that there is no "degster" within the active Spirit roster anymore, they are still to be feared. A great cohesive performance from the Russians meant a 16-11 victory against Complexity on Ancient. 

Spirit and Heroic won't the only ones who got off to a great start at the IEM Cologne event. Continuing the trend with the favorites coming out on top, MOUZ managed to defeat paiN. It wasn't as easy as expected, however, remaining resilient and carrying through their experience in overtime MOUZ managed to secure victory at the scoreline of 19-16. 

Sprout

It was a fight for a spot in the Grand Final at Pinnacle Cup Championship when Heroic and BIG took the stage in Lund. It was a close match but Heroic ended up taking the victory after only two maps.

The action started on BIG's pick of Mirage and the Germans played a great first fifteen rounds. With the power of "syrsoN"s AWP striking down upon Heroic, BIG took an 8-7 T side lead.

Heroic took a six-round winstreak off the back of a hot "sjuush" as they turned to the T side, but were shut down by BIG who did one better, taking seven rounds in a row and taking match point. The Germans could not close it and did not manage to take a single round from this point, as the Danes secured overtime and then went flawless in the extra rounds.

Heroic started the second map of Overpass with a small T-side lead, but as soon as BIG were able to get out their rifles they held their ground very well, and went to halftime with a three-round lead.

Heroic absolutely dominated as soon as they arrived on the CT side, and only gave up a single round to BIG, even despite a very impressive showing from the stand-in of "k1to".

With the win, Heroic are now set to meet Astralis in the Grand Final tonight at 20:00 (CEST).

Things are beginning to get more and more intense at the ongoing Pinnacle Cup Championship 2022, as we are nearing the playoffs. With only one brawl left today, we have already found our first three competitors going head-to-head in the playoffs. One of these three teams is Heroic. The Danish giants managed to move past fnatic in their Bo3-series earlier today and were able to secure second place in their group. When asked about Heroic's performance against fnatic today, rifler "sjuush" had the following to say:

It is no secret that the defensive side of Heroic can be a daunting task for any opposing team to break down, the T-side of Heroic also proved incredibly potent against fnatic in their recent victory, especially on Overpass. "sjuush" gives his take on why their T-sided performance today was better than usual:

Not only is "sjuush" and his teammates from Heroic confident on T-sided Overpass games, but in general, it seems as if the Danes are always up for a challenge and don't mind being portrayed as the villains sometimes. "sjuush" makes it very clear that he is here to win games and not make new friends:

A place in the Consolidation Final is up for grabs when the two rosters lock horns in a sure-to-be exciting Bo3-series. Both fnatic and Heroic were sitting on three points going into their brawl at the Pinnacle Cup Cup Championship 2022 event in Lund, Sweden. A victory for either team would mean qualification to the next round, where they would be facing either Imperial or Finest in a brawl for a spot in the Consolidation Final of the event. The loser between Heroic and fnatic, however, would have to see themselves eliminated from the event there and then. Going into the Bo3-series it was no secret that the Danes of Heroic were the favorites on paper. Currently ranked as the 9# best team in the world, Heroic faced a new-look fnatic that are yet to prove what they are capable of as a roster. Whilst fnatic definitely proved that they are capable of something very exciting in the near future, it was meant to happen today. In just two maps it was "cadian" and his troops to claim victory against fnatic and stay alive at the event. 

The first map of the Bo3-series was set to be played on Mirage and was picked by fnatic. Being the most played map in the current official map pool of CS:GO, Mirage is by no means an unfamiliar map for either team. Despite this, however, it is currently one of Heroic's worst maps as of late, which could very well be the reason as to why fnatic opted for Mirage as their pick. Heroic, however, didn't seem troubled whatsoever in the first half of Mirage. A stellar CT-sided performance with a "sjuush" on fire, meant a 10-5 lead for the Danes as the two rosters switched sides. The second half started, as the first had ended, with Heroic at the steering wheel, at least until fnatic woke up. Managing to string together round after round, the new-look fnatic roster almost managed to make a phenomenal comeback against Heroic, forcing all 30 rounds before a winner was found. Ultimately, however, it was Heroic to take it over the line at the scoreline of 16-14. 

The second map of the Bo3-series was, of course, picked by Heroic and meant a trip to Overpass as the two rosters continued the brawl. Known for their fast rotates and creative executes, Heroic are a challenging opponent to face on Overpass, no matter what team you are. Whilst this may be the case, fnatic carried on their impressive CT-sided performance on Mirage, with a strong start to their defensive half. Whilst fnatic hit the ground running on Overpass, it wasn't long until Heroic showed up. At the scoreline of 8-7, things were as close as possible going into the second half of Overpass. With Heroic on the CT-side in the second half, the Danish lead quickly became bigger and bigger and yet another comeback attempt was needed from fnatic to stay alive against Heroic. A comeback didn't happen on Overpass either and at the scoreline of 16-13, it was Heroic to close out Overpass and take home the Bo3-series against fnatic.

Last night's brawl at ESL Pro League Group D between the Danish titans of Astralis and Heroic ended up being a tense Bo3 series. The match went all the way with both Overpass and Vertigo going into overtime. On Overpass, Astralis had managed to set the score on 15-7 in their favour, only missing one round to seal the win.

Despite being in a favourable 1v3 situation, gla1ve and company failed to lock down the map - due to a certain Rasmus "sjuush" Beck.

Heroic came through in the end taking down Astralis after their impressive re-sweep. After the match, gla1ve and cadiaN restarted the fight by exchanging some harsh words on Twitter. You can read more about the "Danish Beef" down below.

Astralis

Clutches are some of the most exciting things to watch as they unfold in a game of CS:GO. Winning a round when you are left with no teammates to support you is incredibly challenging, both on a skill level and a mental level. Some players are just better at clutches than others. Remaining cool, calm, and collected when everything is on the line and it is just you left is by no means easy. However, despite this, the Danish rifler "sjuush" made it seem as if it was just another day at the office when he won a crucial 1v3 clutch against Astralis. 

At the scoreline of 15-8, it seemed as if it was all too little too late when "sjuush" found himself alone against three standing Astralis opponents. Having to retake a site is never easy and especially not if you are alone against three T's. This, however, didn't face "sjuush". Remaining cold as ice he found his way into the A-bombsite, took down all three opponents, and ignited what would turn out to be a remarkable comeback from Heroic. 

Off the back of the incredible 1v3 clutch from "sjuush", Heroic won eight consecutive rounds to force overtime where they managed to close out Overpass at the scoreline of 19-16. The brawl between Astralis and Heroic is about to continue on Vertigo, the third and final map of the series, thanks to "sjuush" and the amazing comeback on Overpass. The second match of the day on the A-stream had the Danes of Heroic take on the French/Danish mix that is Vitality. 

The first battleground to come into play was Heroic’s pick of Mirage. Vitality came out of the gates blistering hot and took a commanding lead of 7-1, but Heroic did not back down. They instead answered back with a run of their own that was just as dominant, and Vitality went to a break with a small round lead of 8-7.

Vitality won the second-half pistol and extended their lead a bit by also taking the anti-eco, but once again Heroic answered back and were able to take their first lead of the game at 11-10. Vitality did manage to win one more round, but Heroic led by an incredibly impactful performance by “sjuush” were able to take the win on their own map pick at 16-12.

The second arena of the match was Vitality’s pick of Inferno, and it was an extremely aggressive Heroic, led by “stavn” who went absolutely ballistic, that took a very comfortable early lead of 7-0 on their CT-side. Luckily for the Danish/French combo, they did not tilt and were able to the half around so that they went to the break with a one-round deficit.

The Danes grabbed the first round of the second half but were immediately shut down by “apEX” and co. Off the back of that round and a carry-mode “dupreeh”, Vitality were able to take their first lead over the Danes. The teams continued to be really evenly matched, and the lead changed a multitude of times towards the end of the map. Vitality secured map point at 15-14 but failed to convert, and the map appropriately went into overtime.

Vitality looked great at the start of overtime, and it looked like they would surely push it to Vertigo, but Heroic had other plans, and after six rounds another overtime was forced. Heroic snatched all the rounds in the second overtime and took Inferno at 22-18.

This sees Vitality move into the lower bracket, while Heroic is through to the Group A upper final.

BLAST Premier Fall Final 2021 is nearing its end and things are getting more and more intense between the tier-one rosters. We have already found the two competing teams in the upper final, and today it was time to find our two lower finalists. The battle was between the Danish Heroic roster, which almost took down an in-form NaVi, and the North American darling in Team Liquid. Going into the Bo3-series it was clear that Heroic were the favorites. Liquid, however, posed a challenge for the Danes and the Bo3-series went all three maps before reaching its conclusion. Despite a valid attempt from Liquid it was ultimately the Danes to take home the victory 2-1. The victory against Liquid means that we will see a Danish brawl between the new-look Astralis roster and Heroic – they are set to clash in the lower final later today at 19:30 (CET).

The first map was the choice of Liquid and saw the Bo3-series start on Overpass, perhaps surprisingly. Whilst Liquid have proven themselves to be excellent on Overpass it is also one of the maps where Heroic are notoriously difficult to play against. Heroic proved exactly why they are regarded as a strong Overpass team, in the first half of the map. With their aggressive CT-sided plays and attempts to leave their opponents always guessing, it was the Danes to gain the advantage going into the second half at the scoreline of 10-5. Whilst Heroic seemed almost impossible to play against in the first half, with both “stavn” and “sjuush” popping off, the second half had Team Liquid written all over it. After giving away the two first rounds in the second half, Team Liquid played their CT-side to perfection. Stringing together 11 rounds in a row, it was Team Liquid to make the comeback attempt a reality and take home Overpass at 16-12.

The second map of the series was to be played on Nuke and was, of course, picked by Heroic. As we know, Danish rosters have an affinity for the strategical map of Nuke – Heroic are no different. Having played the map 15 times in the past three months and won 60%, it is clear as to why the Danes opted for Nuke as their map pick. It was also Heroic to start the strongest once again. Posting a strong T-sided half on the otherwise CT-sided map of Nuke, the Danes could walk away to halftime at the scoreline of 9-6. The second half, however, proved much more difficult for Heroic. With “EliGE” proving why he is, by many, considered to be the best North American player in the world, it seemed as if Team Liquid were about to run away with a 2-0 victory. This never happened, however, as Heroic found their footing and began to claw themselves to victory. At the scoreline of 16-13 Heroic took home Nuke and forced a third and final map.

With both teams now fired up and eager to win it was only fitting that the third and final map was to be played on Inferno - a map that is known to facilitate intense and thrilling third maps in Bo3-series. The brawl between Liquid and Heroic on Inferno was no different. Both teams refused to give their opponent an inch and it was as close as possible in the first half of Inferno. Trading rounds back and forth, Inferno was still anyone’s map to take home, going into the second half at the scoreline of 8-7. Just as in the last two maps it was Liquid to start the second half the strongest. After losing four consecutive rounds, Heroic and “cadiaN” finally woke up and became the scary beast we know Heroic to be. In the closing stages of Inferno, it seemed as if nothing went the way of Team Liquid and Heroic could ultimately claim victory at 16-12.

The strong Danes from Heroic has just sealed a spot in the semifinal at the PGL Stockholm Major 2021, after taking down Virtus.pro in a thrilling 2-1 victory. Casper “cadiaN” Møller and his young troops proved their worth in front of thousands of people in the Avicii Arena in the Swedish capital, where the majority of them cheered for Heroic.

We got the chance to talk with some of today’s victors right after the deciding 16-13 win on Inferno. The Danish captain rounds off the match like this.

- I feel very excited right now. It’s a big win for us because it’s not easy to play your first game in an arena like this against a former Major finalist in VP. So, I’m very proud of the team and I think they excelled my expectations and we also handled the pressure very well.

The energy in the arena was crazy, and we could hear that the crowd were on our side and not VP’s. That gave us the extra 10% to make the plays and make the right decisions, cadiaN says.

The youngest member of Heroic, 19-year-old Martin “stavn” Lund also took his time to talk with us, where the powerful rifler highlights their ability to utilize and profit from the crowd and its energy.

- There is definitely a different pressure when playing in front of a crowd, something none of the players have experienced for two years now - but it will be something new for every team here. You just have to use it to boost your hype and energy, which was what we did today, stavn concludes.

Since refrezh and sjuush joined Heroic, they have been like another team, they have been more consistent where they have gotten themselves great results, against difficult opponents.

The thing that makes Heroic so strong is their CT side, the way they defend the bombsites are in absolutely first class, and of course, sjuush delivers yet another 4k round as the CT side.

sjuush joined the Danish organization in late February 2021, and he hasn’t looked back ever since, the team has performed on a very high level, and it seems like they are more to come from this roster.

Playing in the shadow, sjuush isn’t the most media-covered player, but he has been consistent, especially in his CT defense, where he has been outstanding for Heroic.

We are now 10 days deep into Flashpoint 3, and it's fair to say that the prominent tournament hasn't disappointed! - Quite the contrary, in fact. 

The prestigious Major Qualifier hold vital RMR points for the upcoming PGL Major in Stockholm, which means that every team will do anything to grab a top spot at the event. Along the way, we have seen upsets, highly controversial disputes, but most importantly - We have seen the very best players from the CS:GO landscape in action.

Clear domination of powers from Heroic who outplayed the German Sprout.

Heroic showed another level from the start. The first map was on Vertigo, which is the strongest map for Heroic in the last three months, they have won 86% in the last three months, and Sprout only with 53% in the last three months.

And Heroic showed their powers as they were leading 11-4 after the first half on Vertigo, with sjuush in top form, it seemed difficult for Sprout to come back on the map.

And they didn’t come back after the shaky start, Heroic ended up winning the first map 16-7 after an almost perfect performance by sjuush who showed how good he is, especially on the CT side, he ends the map with a rating of 1.72.

The second map was to be played on Nuke, and yet again we saw clear domination from the Danish organization. After the first half as the T side, the Danish side was leading 10-5, and the game seemed to be a formality.

And they didn’t have a chance when they shifted side in the second half as Heroic won the second half 6-2 and cemented the victory. The map ended 16-7 like the first map.

A fantastic performance by the Danish team who won 2-0 against the German side, Sprout.

If you heard that three Danes are in the top 5 of the best-performing players at a big event, such as Dreamhack Masters Spring 2021, you would probably think that at least one of these players is from Astralis. This, however, isn't the case. After Heroic defeated their fellow Danes from Astralis 2-0 it became clear as to which Danish roster is currently the best performing. 

In the top 5 best-performing players, from the teams that are currently still in the event, are three Heroic players. René "TeSeS" Madsen is currently the best performing player with an impressive 1.39 rating. Joining him is Rasmus "sjuush" Beck at fourth place with a rating of 1.29 and Ismail "refrezh" Ali at fifth place with a rating of 1.26. 

Joining the Danes in the top five is also Aleksandr "S1mple" Kostyliev sitting at second place with a rating of 1.36 and Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov at third place with a rating of 1.36. The 19-year-old AWP'er in "sh1ro" has been compared with "S1mple" for quite some time now. And with the two of them leading their team's respective leaderboards in their latest meeting it is clear to see why.

Despite losing to Gambit when they last met, however, it is still the Ukrainian god "S1mple" that leads the charge in the CIS region. Perhaps one day the young "sh1ro" can fill his shoes and become one of the greatest players in the world If he isn't already to be regarded as one.
