All eyes are on the 16 teams that start their journey at the PGL Copenhagen Major on Sunday at the Opening Stage of the tournament. The biggest stars on the scene will enter the tournament in the next phase, where FaZe, G2, and the rest of the seeded teams for the Elimination Stage await. But until then, we will take a look at some of the players, that you should keep an eye on in the first stage of the tournament.

Filter: Against the top 50 teams (min. 15 maps) in 2024

1. João "felps" Vasconcellos (Imperial) – 1.19 rating (32 maps)

The 27-year-old Brazilian plays his sixth Major in his career. It’s been a while ago since the former SK rifler was part of any lineup that could win big tournaments, but in 2024 João "felps" Vasconcellos and his teammates have shown promising signs. The experienced Rifler is averaging a 1.25 rating overall, and a 1.19 rating against top 50 teams in the world.

2. Rafael "arrozdoce" Wing (SAW) – 1.19 rating (24 maps)

SAW is one of the most in-form teams that are going to the Copenhagen Major. With 9 wins in a row, the Portuguese fans are expecting their heroes to go far in the first CS2 Major in history. One of the key players for SAW will be Rafael "arrozdoce" Wing. The 21-year-old rifler has been amazing in the last couple of tournaments, where he has averaged between 1.21 and 1.32. Rafael "arrozdoce" Wing is one of the most in-form players at the tournament, and we can’t wait to see, what he brings to the server in Copenhagen.

3. İsmailсan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş (Eternal Fire) – 1.19 rating (22 maps)

The Turkish Rifler is obviously going to feature on this list. İsmailсan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş is now 28-year-old, but he can still shoot heads. The Rifler was great in Katowice but had issues performing against the likes of FaZe and G2. Against lesser prominent opponents, İsmailсan "XANTARES" Dörtkardeş is still lethal, and has a very respectable 1.19 rating in 2024.

4. Özgür "woxic" Eker (Eternal Fire) – 1.18 rating (22 maps)

We have long stopped counting the times that Eternal Fire changed their roster in the past. But now something seems to have clicked for the Turkish side, that are expected to be among the best teams in the opening stage of the tournament. One of the reasons is Özgür "woxic" Eker. The 25-year-old AWP’er has been fairly consistent for Eternal Fire, and sometimes we see glimpses of the player that were ranked in the top 20 of the world in 2019. At the IEM Katowice Play-in, Özgür "woxic" Eker gave one of the best performances of his career with a 1.51 rating. It will be interesting to see, how Eternal Fire plays at the event after nearly a month without competitive matches.

5. Yuri "yuurih" Boian (FURIA) – 1.18 rating (19 maps)

2318 days. That is the number of days, that Yuri "yuurih" Boian has been rifling for FURIA. The longest-standing member of the team is also the player in best shape before the start of the Copenhagen Major. The duo of Yuri "yuurih" Boian and Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato is always dangerous, and will without a doubt pose a threat to all the teams in the Opening Stage.

6. Michel "ewjerkz" Magalhães (SAW) – 1.17 rating (24 maps)

Another SAW player has found his way to the top of the ratings. Michel "ewjerkz" Magalhães has been very consistent in his performances for SAW with a minimum of 1.11 rating in the five events, that SAW has played in 2024. Michel "ewjerkz" Magalhães is 23-years-old and joined SAW in the summer of 2022. Can he bring glory to Portugal in CS2?

7. Joakim 'jkaem' Myrbostad (Apeks) – 1.17 rating (34 maps)

The Norwegian Rifler has played competitive Counter-Strike since 2014! Copenhagen will be the 9th Major in history for Joakim 'jkaem' Myrbostad, who went all the way to the Semi-Finals with Apeks at the last Major in Paris. At 30 years old, Joakim 'jkaem' Myrbostad will be one of the keystones for Apeks to replicate the impressive result from Paris.

8. Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato (FURIA) – 1.16 rating (19 maps)

Often mentioned as the current best player from Brazil, Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato will once again be one of the key players for FURIA, if they want to succeed in Copenhagen. Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato has been named among the best 20 players in the world by HLTV four years in a row. At the last Major in Paris however, Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato and FURIA were a long way from doing damage, so it will be interesting to see, what kind of FURIA we will see this time around.

9. Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren (TheMongolz) – 1.16 rating (16 maps)

TheMongolz has been the best team out of the Asian/Oceania region in the last couple of years. One of the stars of the Asian scene is 22-year-old Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren. The rifler plowed through the RMR tournament with a 1.46 rating and has greatly contributed to the fact, that TheMongolz is one of the teams to watch in the first stage of PGL Copenhagen.

10. Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández (KOI) – 1.15 rating (35 maps)

27-year-old Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández spent a lifetime (in Counter-Strike terms) playing under the banner of Movistar Riders from 2017 until the start of 2024. Now the team is named KOI, but it is still with the roots of Iberian Counter-Strike in mind, that the Spanish/Portuguese roster enters the first CS2 Major in history. As an entry-fragger, Alejandro "mopoz" Fernández has been an excellent spearhead for KOI in 2024, where he has averaged a 1.15 rating against the top 50 teams.

11. Henrique "HEN1" Teles (Imperial) – 1.15 rating (32 maps)

Immortals, Luminosity Gaming, FURIA, O Plano, 00 Nation, MIBR, and Imperial. The list of Brazilian teams that Henrique "HEN1" Teles has played on is long and windy, but recently Imperial has begun to climb up in the world rankings after the team has performed significantly better. Henrique "HEN1" Teles looks determined to prove his worth after a superb performance at the RMR averaging 1.62 on the four maps it took Imperial to qualify. The 28-year-old Brazilian is playing his only second Major in his career, after reaching the Grand Final back in 2017 at PGL Major Krakow with Immortals.

12. Denis "electroNic" Sharipov (Cloud9) – 1.15 rating (30 maps)

The Russian Cloud9 player is the only Major winner on our list. But since the switch from NAVI to Cloud9, the results have been lackluster, to say the least. The introduction of Kirill 'Boombl4' Mikhailov as the new in-game leader has proven to be pivotal for the experienced rifler, who has seen a significant spike in his individual ratings. At IEM Katowice and the RMRs, Denis "electroNic" Sharipov once again showed that he is reliable as ever.

The opening round at PGL Copenhagen starts this Sunday.

At least three out of the five spots from the Americas RMR tournament will be Brazilian at the upcoming Major in Copenhagen. At the qualification tournament in Mexico, it has been the Brazilian rosters dominating the matches so far.

FURIA secured their spot in Copenhagen with three straight victories against NA teams. Nouns and Team Liquid were defeated in bo1 matches, while FURIA took down Complexity last night after a closely fought match ending 2-1 to Kaike 'KSCERATO' Cerato and his teammates. The Brazilian rifler once again played a key part in FURIA’s win.

Imperial also qualified with an impressive run at the RMR. Throughout the four maps that they played at the RMR tournament, Imperial only lost a combined 14 rounds. In their match against paiN last night, Henrique 'HEN1' Teles and his teammates won 13-5, 13-4. The AWP’er has been in excellent form at the tournament leaving it with a stellar 1.62 rating.

The tournament continues today with some spicy matchups to determine the last three spots from the Americas. Most eye catching is the “Battle of NA” with Complexity and Liquid going head-to-head for a spot at the Major.

paiN and ODDIK will fight an all-Brazilian matchup, while Marcelo "coldzera" David and Legacy takes on the international lineup from M80 in the last of the three matches.

Henrique "HEN1" Teles announced his benching on Twitter yesterday.

- Hail family! I come to inform you that I was moved to the MIBR bank. I know that many will seek to understand, just like me, but this is CS and life! Even if I'm surprised, I'm still rooting for the team and that they achieve what they want. I will take with me all the good times.

The Brazilian joins Matheus "Tuurtle" Anhaia on the bench of MIBR. MIBR

There is nothing evil or genius about Evil Geniuses these days. The North American roster was tasked with a difficult job today against the Turkish lineup from Eternal Fire.

On Anubis, both XANTARES and Calyx had a field day against the struggling NA team. Eternal Fire won 16-6 with ease before moving on to Overpass. Here it quickly turned sour for EG, who had to start the second half with a 2-13 deficit. But much to their credit they actually amounted to a comeback with Timothy 'autimatic' Ta and Jerric 'wiz' Jiang leading the team almost all the way back. But in the end, the lead for Eternal Fire was too big to catch.

In the other early match of the day, MIBR won 2-0 against IHC. The match was fairly even on both Inferno and Anubis. It was the T side of MIBR that carried the Brazilians through winning 9-4 and 10-5 on the two maps. 

With the win MIBR advance to the lower semi-finals, where they face the loser of Cloud9 and G2. IHC drops down to the Last Chance Stage, where they face Evil Geniuses on Saturday.

Henrique "HEN1" Teles is one of the old Brazilian legends, who earlier in his CS:GO career reached some impressive achievements such as a 2nd place at the PGL Krakow Major in 2017 Krakow, losing to the mighty Danes from Astralis.

HEN1 is currently playing for MIBR who recently played in the ESL Pro League Season 16 against teams like FaZe, G2, BIG, Outsiders, and FTW. HEN1 and MIBR are 6-0 in the ESL Challenger League Season 42 North America group A.

MIBR recently announced that they will be signing with Henrique "HEN1" Teles as the team´s last and fifth member. The spot was left open after the departure of chelo. Before joining MIBR, HEN1 has been without a team for a little over a month. Earlier this summer, HEN1, and GODSENT parted ways, which led the AWPer to now join MIBR. 

HEN1 got a decorated carer with both great results such as runner-up for the grand final back in PGL Major Krakow, where he played under the Immortals banner, and a HLTV´s yearly player rankings, where the Brazilian was recognized as the 16th best player of the 2020 year. 

MIBR and HEN1 will be looking to start their new journey together with a bang, playing in the ESL Pro League Season 16. In the Group with MIBR, teams like FaZe, G2, and BIG.

Henrique “HEN1” Teles was once one of FURIA’s most powerful weapons, but today the Brazilian AWPer were set to square up against his former teammates at BLAST Premier Spring Showdown. 

The Bo3 began on GODSENT’s pick of Overpass,  where FURIA found themselves the first five rounds. GODSENT finally got themselves on the board in the sixth round but were immediately shut down by FURIA, and by staying aggressive and not allowing their opponents any space to work with “arT” and co. won the CT-side 12-3.

FURIA unsurprisingly kept up the pace, and in spite of heavy resistance from latto and HEN1, closed it out in swift fashion at 16-7.

On Andrei “arT” Piovezan and company’s map pick of Nuke, the FURIA supremacy continued with the Brazilian panthers presenting a solid T side. Their strong offensive gave them a favorable 9-6 lead going into the switch. In the end, the FURIA victory was inevitable as GODSENT not managed to step up their game, resulting in a clear 16-11 win. 

In tomorrow’s title-decider, FURIA will go up against the winner of the second semifinal between MIBR or paiN. A matchup, which is set to kick off at 22.00 (CET) today.

Player to watch: {cflag:BR} Andrei "arT" Piovezan is by far the most aggressive player in the world both stylistically and statistically. Furthermore, he is one of the most successful players in opening duels making him an extremely exciting, unique, and entertaining player.

had a rough start to the year after some big roster changes, but they have started showing why they should still be considered one of the top contenders in America. With "nitr0", who earlier led the team to an Intel Grand Slam, leading a band of star players who are currently performing on an extraordinarily high level, this squad can take on even the toughest opponents. 

Player to watch: {cflag:FR} Richard "shox" Papillon will not deliver the same high numbers as some of his teammates, but the Frenchman is one of the most exciting players to watch when the situations get tough and he can really flex his brain!

have been together for about three months now, and even though they have not consistently been able to challenge the top-tier teams, they have done exceedingly well against their American rivals. They are a very young team full of talent which means that anything can happen.

Player to watch: {cflag:US} Ricky "floppy" Kernery has been the consistent player on this team. With great fundamentals and an impeccable aim, the 22-year-old rifler is one to look out for.

is one of the most exciting teams in the world, as they have a very unique approach to the game. It is a team that is hard to play against because you never know what they are going to throw at you. The Brazilian squad has a great track record over the last couple of months, but many of those matches are against lower-tier teams.

Player to watch: {cflag:BR} Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian has been delivering consistently high numbers since he started playing professionally and is right now playing some of his best CS!

went Brazilian a little more than a year ago, and even though the project was a little uncertain the young roster has flourished under the leadership of "TACO". The team recently picked up "HEN1" as the main AWP'er, and if things fall into place with the ex-FURIA star this is a team that can challenge the big boys.

Player to watch: {cflag:BR} Henrique "HEN1" Teles has not found the level he displayed in 2020 yet, but he will need to if GODSENT want to have a chance at securing the Spring Final spot.

has had a rough go of it in recent times. They have rarely managed to beat tier 1 or tier 2 teams and will have to shake things up to make an upset.

Player to watch: {cflag:BR} Wesley "hardzao" Lopes needs to step up. He has enormous talent but needs to deliver on a higher level than he has.

 was also one of the teams that made a roster change at the start of the year, but they have not yet had much success. Even though there are several Major-winners from the old Cloud9 that won the ELEAGUE Boston Major 2018, this constellation can not seem to find the winning ticket.

Player to watch: {cflag:BG} Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov was once considered one of the best AWP'ers in the world, and he needs to find out how to get back to that level if the Geniuses are to stand a chance.

are at #114 the lowest-ranked team at the event, and not a lot is expected from them. They did however recently beat Imperial twice, both in a Bo3 and a Bo1.

Player to watch: {cflag:BR} Romeu "zevy" Rocco has been a beam of light for the Sharks. The 20-year-old AWP'er will have to play the tournament of his life to make the Sharks' dreams come true.

The three playoff teams from group C at ESL Pro League have been found after Players (Gambit) won against GODSENT tonight. Players will follow Movistar Riders and Team Liquid into the next stage of the tournament.

The important win came after two nail-biter maps, where GODSENT showed some good Counter-Strike to keep up with Abay 'HObbit' Khasenov and the rest of the CIS roster. On the decider map the score was however settled.

On Inferno, it was Sergey "Ax1Le" Rykhtorov, who came out charging. The Russian rifler was 14-1 in K-D about halfway through the first half. But it was not enough to distance GODSENT, who kept lingering on. It took all 30 rounds to defeat the Brazilians 16-14.

Players picked Overpass as their map, but again they could not shake their opponents off. The first half ended 8-7 in favor of Players, but that all changed in the second half. Epitacio 'TACO' de Melo called an excellent T-side for GODSENT, who started to dominate their opponents during the second half. Henrique 'HEN1' Teles delivered eight uncontested first kills on Overpass, which helped GODSENT to steal Players' map pick back.

So everything was lined up on Mirage for an exciting brawl between the two contenders for the last spot in the playoffs in Group C. A 13-2 half killed the intensity, that had engulfed the match until this point. Players cruised home the victory in the second half, which sends them through to the playoff stage as the last team in Group C. 

Tomorrow Players and Team Liquid fight for second place in the group in the last round of matches in Group C.

Yesterday GODSENT announced the benching of their rifler João "⁠felps⁠" Vasconcellos. 

The player is expected to be out for the next two to three months leaving GODSENT one man short before their ESL Pro League starts next week. But on the website for [link:{"url":"https://pro.eslgaming.com/csgo/proleague/teams/","isNewTab":true,"text":"ESL Pro League"}], Henrique "HEN1" Teles has already been named as an extra player on the squad, which indicates that the 26-year-old AWP'er will be used as a stand-in for the tournament next week.

An interesting move for GODSENT who could use a good AWP'er on their team. It is also hard to imagine that Henrique "HEN1" Teles would not be very keen to perform and to show, that he still has what it takes to be a key player on a Tier 1 team. GODSENT has still not confirmed the addition of the Brazilian.

The media outlet state to have sources close to the deal, saying that the Brazilian org is negotiating with the profiled twins alongside two additional countrymen.

The two other players rumoured to join RED Canids are Denner "KHTEX" Barchfield from Paquetá and MIBR’s Bruno "shz" Martinelli. However, the name that sticks out the most must be HEN1.

The 26-year-old AWPer is currently without a team, however, in the past HEN1 has made significant results with big teams like FURIA and Immortals. In 2020, he managed to average a stellar 1.14 rating under the leadership of Andrei “arT” Piovezan.

Looking at the world ranking through the last couple of years in CS:GO, you've always could find FURIA at the top –  and at their best also within Top 3. However, here in 2022, the Brazilian panthers initiate the season on a #27 spot.

Going into this year, FURIA has brought in the 27-year-old AWPer Rafael “saffee” Costa from paiN to fight their way back to the very top of the game. A signing, the captain and in-game leader, Andrei ”arT” Piovezan touched on in an interview with us.

- saffee is definitely a more experienced and very skilled AWPer, which is what we have been looking for since HEN1 left the team two years ago. saffee is very cool and always chilling. He’s also a person who wants to learn and listen so he definitely a nice teammate to have, arT said about his new teammate and continued:

- The way FURIA play, makes it harder for a new AWPer when he joins the team. He needs to adapt to the playstyle and the pace of the game.

In the latter stages of 2020, FURIA, led by the always aggressive arT and the powerful AWPer of HEN1, managed to climb all the way up to a #3 place on the world ranking after winning DreamHack Open Summer, ESL Pro League Season 12 and IEM New York.

However, arT still believes they are better suited now. 

- We are way stronger with this lineup than we were ever before (…) Here in the first two months, we just need 2-3 tournaments to put the pieces together. When you get the ball rolling you need to start winning tournaments to get your confidence up – that momentum is what keeps a good team at the top.

Rafael "saffee" Costa has been confirmed as a new signing at FURIA, the Brazilian organization announced this Thursday night. The 27-year-old AWPer will fill the void after the discarded Vinicius "⁠VINI⁠" Figueiredo, who were told that he wasn’t a part of FURIA’s plan going into the 2022 season.

The powerful sniper has a big task in front of him, as he will try to fill out the shoes of the profiled Henrique “HEN1” Teles, who showed impressive levels with FURIA from his tenure between 2019-2021. Something, saffee’s predecessor, Paytyn “Junior” Johnson never managed to replicate.

Despite being 27-year-old, saffee is a quite new figure on the top of competitive Counter-Strike, where the majority of the community first got eyes on him last year due to a phenomenal showing at paiN Gaming. 

The late bloomer led the Brazilian team to notable victories like DreamHack Open January 2021 NA, and were also a big part of their qualification to the PGL Stockholm Major at the end of the year.

The Brazilian rifler, Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles has announced via his Twitter that he has become a free agent just hours after his brother Henrique “HEN1” Teles announced the same. 

LUCAS1 and HEN1 both got benched from 00Nation in October, just a few weeks after the lineup had joined the Norwegian organization, so the news doesn’t come as a big surprise. 

Now, the two brothers are free to join another organization at a time when HEN1’s former team in FURIA are searching for a main AWPer to the roster. However, it seems unlikely that the Brazilian AWPer will join his old team, as a report from [link:{"url":"https://ge.globo.com/esports/csgo/noticia/csgo-furia-quer-saffee-para-vaga-de-vini.ghtml","isNewTab":true,"text":"ge.globo.com"}] links Rafael “saffee” Costa from paiN with a potential transfer to FURIA. 

00Natian currently sits on the 103th place of the HLTV World Ranking. 

The renowned Fernando "⁠fer⁠" Alvarenga has returned to competitive Counter-Strike, with the two-time Major winner signing a contract with 00Nation. The CS:GO veteran joins the Brazilian roster as the replacement for the recently benched Henrique "⁠HEN1⁠" Teles and Lucas "⁠LUCAS1⁠" Teles.

The addition of fer also means that 00Nation will return to field a five-man lineup, instead of their previous six-man roster.

fer is most known for his time at SK, Luminosity, and MIBR where the Brazilian rifler won countless titles, including the two Major championships at MLG Columbus and ESL One Cologne in 2016. However, fer haven’t played much in the last 12 months, owing to his benching from MIBR in September last year.

The announcement of fer, comes few hours after the news of 00Nation benching the two twins HEN1 and LUCAS1. The Brazilian team explains that the disappointing result at the recent IEM Fall was the reason behind the decision to axe the duo. All the roster changes mean that the former substitute in Alencar "⁠trk⁠" Rossato will be promoted to the active lineup.

The Brazilian superstars from O PLANO, led by renowned players like Vito “⁠kNgV-⁠” Giuseppe, Henrique “⁠HEN1⁠” Teles, and Lucas “⁠LUCAS1⁠” Teles, looks to finally have found a new CS:GO home. The star-studded roster has been without an organization since the start of this year when they announced their breakup with MIBR.

O PLANO has been in talks with Nordavind for a potential partnership and takeover of the team. Both media sites inform that the team are in negotiations with the Nordic org.

The report emerged after only hours of Nordavind having announced the benching of their entire roster. That makes room for kNgV- and company, which could be the second Brazilian roster represented by a Scandinavian organization, with GODSENT’s signing of Epitacio “TACO” de Melo’s CS:GO project in January 2021.
