NIP eliminate Copenhagen Flames from PGL Major after intense overtime decider
The Swedish Ninjas will play in the Avicii Arena after defeating Copenhagen Flames 2-1.
The action started with Copenhagen Flames map pick of Nuke, and the Danes kicked things off on the right foot, grabbing the first three rounds of the map. NIP didn't falter, though, bouncing back to a 4-3 lead before Copenhagen Flames turned things around for the Danish Squad as they brought it to a 7-8 scoreline at halftime. The Swedes fought back after going to CT, taking the pistol, but didn't put their foot down the same way Copenhagen Flames did. Jabbi was a problem for NIP with 27 frags, pushing his team to a 16-10 victory.
Moving onto NIP’s pick of Inferno, Copenhagen Flames started on the defensive side. After losing the pistol, Copenhagen Flames won the next seven rounds as NIP struggled to find any ideas on the offense. The Swedes side managed to grab a handful of rounds before Copenhagen Flames ended the first half with an impressive 10-5 advantage. It was a completely different story after switching sides as NIP and dev1ce came alive on the defense, shutting down the Danish T-side and taking the map 13-16.
Ancient was the last map in the Major for either Copenhagen Flames or NIP. The first half of Ancient went back and forth, but NIP managed to break them towards to end of the half to recover to a 6-9 score. At the start of the second half, dev1ce and company put up a dominant T performance. NIP with the lead, which further extended to 14-9, before Copenhagen Flames finally put a halt to the onslaught and fought back to force overtime. The teams continued to narrowly seek out wins, an intense battle before NIP took control to close things out, 17-19.
