Namechange: ESL One Cologne becomes IEM Cologne
A new tournament reform has been announced unifying all non-league EPT Masters tournaments under the IEM brand.
Today the tournament organizer ESL announced a new tournament structure.
- We are thrilled to open a new chapter for the Cathedral of Counter-Strike in unifying all non-league EPT Masters tournaments under the IEM brand. The ESL Pro Tour will consist of IEM circuit events and two ESL Pro League seasons each year on the Masters level. On the Challenger level it will continue to feature DreamHack Open tournaments, ESL National Championships and ESEA Premier, ESL writes in their announcement.
ESL One Cologne will in the future be known as IEM Cologne.
- We’ve welcomed thousands of fans to Cologne since 2015, making friends from across the globe while celebrating our favorite game. This tradition will continue as soon as we are able to return together in 2022, the tournament organizer writes.

The 2020 edition was cancelled due to the pandemic. The next edition of the tournament will take place from July 6th until the 18th.
