ESIC forwards evidence of potential betting fraud to Valve
The esports watchdog have received evidence of potential match-fixing and betting fraud in RMR event.
The Esports Integrity Commission have revealed that the CEO of Project X, Oleksandr Shyshko, has placed “numerous bets on highly suspicious Project X matches” from his active CS:GO betting account. ESIC adds that the CEO’s betting took place at a time when the current Akuma lineup was playing under the Project X banner before it disbanded back in March.
ESIC has forwarded all the evidence received to Valve and don’t want Akuma to be included in tournaments, or any other team with Oleksandr Shyshko until an investigation is concluded.
“While ESIC has not undertaken a full investigation into the detail, extent, and validity of any particular instances of match-fixing behavior and the perpetrators of such behavior – information on hand would indicate that this is a matter worth investigating further. If ESIC did have jurisdiction, we would have opened a full investigation based on what we already know. ESIC has therefore referred the evidence available to us to Valve for further consideration,” the commissioner of ESIC, Ian Smith, explained in a statement.
