FURIA announced the transfer of Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo last night with the words:

FURIA also bought Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes from Imperial to complete its roster. André "⁠drop⁠" Abreu and Rafael "⁠saffee⁠" Costa departs FURIA to join MIBR.

The hometown favourites. It’s no understatement to say that Imperial will be by far the most popular team at the upcoming Major tournament in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Brazilian “Last Dance” squad, led by the legendary AWPer Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, have had massive backing and support from the Brazilian fans ever since the creation of the team in early 2022.

The huge fan support is an aspect which could help and elevate FalleN and company massively at the Major, especially now when all matches are set to be played in front of a crowd. Something that plays in when you are to consider the favourites of each match – the same can be said about their countrymen from FURIA, although they don’t hold the same popularity as Imperial.

The signing of the 24-year-old Brazilian Marcelo ”chelo” Cespedes looks to be a very good pickup for the veteran team. By replacing Lincoln “fnx” Lau with chelo, Imperial has received a very potent rifler who offers a lot more firepower to the server than the ageing fnx.

His arrival + the support and help from the Brazilian crowd could make Imperial a real underdog at IEM Rio Major – maybe not to take the overall title in the end – but as a team that could upset a lot of profiled teams.

Yesterday evening Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo and the rest of Imperial secured themselves a spot at the upcoming CS:GO Major on their home soil of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. To seal the ticket, the Brazilians had to go through a nail-biter of a match against Complexity, which ended with an overtime thriller on Overpass.

Right after the match, a very emotional Imperial captain in FalleN took his time to speak ESL, expressing how much it means for him and the team to attend the Rio Major.

- It’s impossible to describe. You can just see it and feel it. The energy that everyone from the entire world was bringing hoping for our qualification – all the stress, all the preparation, it was very, very difficult. This has been the most emotional tournament I’ve ever played. It has been the hardest journey of my career in my 18 years of playing CS. I’m just so happy.

FalleN were extremely impressed with the Imperial newcomer Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes, who put up a stellar performance in the crucial matchup yesterday by averaging a 1.26 Rating and getting 79 kills in total.

- He [chelo] took us to Rio. He was playing so well. He really reminds me of coldzera in the past – I have told chelo that he has a lot of qualities like coldzera. You know the energy that he brings to the game and the way he plays, and today he was fantastic. He saved us so much.

With over 400.000 people watching simultaneously on Twitch, Imperial stood the distance and eliminated Complexity in the last match at the Americas Road to Rio event in Sweden.

The tension was high for the experienced Imperial roster where two times Major winners, Fernando "fer" Alvarenga and Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo were fighting for a long-time dream to come true. To take part in a Major in Brazil.

It started very well for Imperial, who controlled the match on their own map pick, Inferno. With 11 rounds won on their T-side, it was a question of time before the first map was done and dusted in favor of the Brazilians.

Next up was Nuke. Again Imperial got the best start leading 9-6 at the break. Here the newest member of the roster, Marcelo 'chelo' Cespedes showed his worth with several multi-kill rounds defending the A-site. But on their CT side, Complexity found themselves again, and through an almost miraculous clutch from Ricky "floppy" Kemery, Complexity took it all the way and won the map.

The last map was Overpass. On paper a dream scenario for Complexity, who had taken down FaZe and Team Liquid recently here. But it was Imperial, who showed some excellent T rounds to start with. Again it was Marcelo 'chelo' Cespedes in command, as the Brazilian dominated the first half. But then it was Complexity's turn. From 6-9 down to 13-11 up, it suddenly looked like the ticket to Rio was going the way of the North Americans. But FalleN wanted it otherwise! 

First, he produced a magical ace from the A-site, and then in a critical round at 14-14, the Imperial captain took out two Complexity players in a collateral kill with his AWP, which essentially swung the round in favor of Imperial. 

With map and match points, and an unhealthy Complexity economy everybody thought, that it was over. But of course, this game needed to be decided in overtime, and so it went. Maybe it was the experience from Imperial or the nerves from Complexity playing in, but in the overtime, it was Imperial in command and Complexity trailing after. And while tension reached an all-time high, Imperial kept their heads cool and secured the map and match in one of the most intense games of the year.

Imperial follow their countrymen from FURIA and 00NATION to participate in the 18th Major CS:GO Championship on their home soil in Rio in November.

The popular Brazilians from Imperial can once again field a full lineup after having signed the 24-year-old rifler Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes. chelo arrives from MIBR as he’s set to replace the two-timer Major winner Lincoln “fnx” Lau, who has been removed from the active roster.

According to the Brazilian outlet [link:{"url":"https://www.dust2.com.br/noticias/30066/imperial-encaminha-contratacao-de-chelo-por-r-1-milhao","isNewTab":true,"text":"Dust2.br"}], the transfer of chelo will cost Imperial $200.000 – a noteworthy price tag for a player with that small amount of top-tier experience. He is set to get his debut at the beginning of next month when Imperial kick off their ESL Challenger campaign in Melbourne.

Despite being removed from the roster, fnx will continue to work with the team as a coach and content creater, the organization stated.

The Brazilian star rifler leaves the MIBR organization after just 19-month of playing on the active roster. The move has been announced shortly after a report from [link:{"url":"https://www.dust2.com.br/noticias/29950/chelo-e-favorito-para-substituir-fnx-na-imperial","isNewTab":true,"text":"Dust2.com.br"}] that stated that chelo will be replacing fnx at Imperial. 

Who the replacement for chelo will be is still yet to be announced. But in another report from [link:{"url":"https://www.dust2.com.br/noticias/30111/hen1-sera-substituto-de-chelo-no-mibr","isNewTab":true,"text":"dust2.com.br"}] they stated that HEN1 will most likely be replacing chelo in the lineup of MIBR.

The first year for chelo at MIBR was not particularly successful, as the team went through tough early exits from the two BLAST Groups and ESL Pro Leauge Season 13, which pushed MIBR to make important changes within the roster, keeping only chelo and exit in their active lineup.

Henrique "HEN1" Teles found himself out after the core of his previous team, GODSENT, who had just departed ways with Marcelo "coldzera" David and Santino "try" Rigal to 00NATION, after just three months with GODSENT they decided to release the AWPer from this contract.

The Brazilian AWPer has previously been rated as one of the best snipers in the world and featured on HLTV's top 20 list in 2020. In the video below, you can see some of his best plays.

According to a report by the media outlet [link:{"url":"https://draft5.gg/noticia/fnx-pode-deixar-a-imperial","isNewTab":true,"text":"Draft5.gg"}], Imperial is looking to demote the two-time Major winner Lincoln “fnx” Lau after representing the team for less than six months. Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes from MIBR is allegedly Imperial favourite pick to replace the 32-year-old rifler.

fnx was signed by Imperial back in February alongside his old teammates Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, Ricardo “boltz” Prass and lastly the former FURIA rifler Vinicius “VINI” Figueiredo. Since the lineup was formed, fnx has been the lowest performing player only averaging a 0.90 rating in his 84 maps for the team.

If the rumours are true, Imperial will post the following lineup:

Complexity did not have much to say as MIBR casually took them down in two maps.

With the first pick of the series, MIBR chose to take the brawl to the likes of Dust2. The Brazilians landed the first blow as they took five rounds on the T-side, before Complexity were able to take a round of their own. The North Americans struggled throughout the entire half where “Grim” was the only one able to make it into double digits on the kill-counter. MIBR led by 11-4 at halftime.

Complexity looked better after the break and were actually able to win some rounds back-to-back. They were never able to make it scary for the Brazilians though, and MIBR safely took the win at 16-9.

MIBR kept their foot on the gas pedal as they took a 6-2 lead on the CT-side of Complexity’s pick: Inferno. This time around Complexity managed to retaliate and actually put some meaningful rounds on the board before halftime. They managed to pick up six out of fifteen in the first half, which was impressive considering that “chelo” was playing immaculately.

Complexity were not able to put up much of a fight in the second half as the Brazilians kept up the pressure all the way to the finish line. With three players below 50 ADR, Complexity struggled massively to keep up on an individual level. MIBR advanced after a 16-10 win.

The 18-year-old Breno "⁠brnz4n⁠" Poletto will continue to be a part of the MIBR roster at IEM Katowice next week.

The Brazilian team had the option to get Marcelo "⁠chelo⁠" Cespedes back on the roster, after the 23-year-old rifler has recovered from Covid-19, but has chosen to continue with brnz4n for the upcoming event. In the twitter post, coach Renato "⁠nak⁠" Nakano cites continuity as the main reason for sticking with Breno "⁠brnz4n⁠" Poletto.

At BLAST Premier Spring Groups, MIBR defeated Natus Vincere and Complexity but failed to qualify for the Spring Finals after defeats to Vitality and G2.

IEM Katowice will start on the 15th of February with the Play-in.

The Round of 16 of BLAST Premier Spring Showdown saw a Brazilian brawl take place between MIBR and FURIA. The Brazilian rosters are known for their aggressive and extremely creative type of play and today was no different. Both teams seemed ready and eager to fight and it was a close affair with very little difference between the two Brazilian teams. Ultimately, however, it was FURIA to take home the victory with a slight edge over their opponents of MIBR. The 2-0 victory sees FURIA qualifying for a spot at the Quarter-finals against the current best team in the world in Gambit.

The first map took place on Mirage, picked by MIBR. Mirage is a map that both teams have played a multitude of times before and with great success. The experience on Mirage, from both team's perspectives, showed as it was a close and intense affair. MIBR started the strongest but was quickly caught up and overtaken by FURIA. Despite their attempts to make a comeback, MIBR had to see themselves defeated on Mirage at the scoreline of 16-14 favoring FURIA. 

16-10 FURIA (Vertigo) | yuurih 1.60 Rating / 109.8 ADR / 25-14 K-D

The second map was picked by FURIA and saw the Bo3-series heading towards the map of Vertigo. Unlike Mirage, Vertigo is definitely most played, and to greatest succession, by FURIA. Surprisingly, however, it was MIBR to take the lead in the first half of Vertigo at the scoreline of 9-6. 

Despite MIBR's good efforts in the first half, it was all too much to handle in the second half. FURIA rolled through their opponents with a much more confident CT-side and won Vertigo 16-10. The victory on Vertigo meant a 2-0 win against MIBR and a place in the Quarter-finals.

The 22-year-old Brazilian is part of the new MIBR roster, who has now been together for two months. The core of the roster is the old 2020 BOOM squad, who dominated the South America CS:GO scene with nine tournament wins last year. Now the Brazilians face tougher opponents in the A-tier tournaments.

At ESL Pro League MIBR won two out of their five matches. They lost against the three favorites from the group, but still, they managed to make a good impression, which could be a good sign for the future. 

The best player so far for MIBR has been Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes. The 22-year-old rifler is rated 1.10 in 2021, and has been on fire in 1vs2 clutch situations with eight wins in eight attempts! We have gathered some of the best highlights from the skilled Brazilian here.

AT ESL Pro League Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes was rated the best Brazilian in the whole tournament and 16th overall. 

MIBR and chelo will be back in action at BLAST Premier Spring Showdown from the 13th of April.

Natus Vincere and MIBR were both in a spot of bother before they met on the server. The clear favorites of Group C were, without too much debate, the CIS-giants of NAVI. Their start to the ESL Pro League Season 13, however, was more challenging than expected. Losing to both FURIA and Gambit previously, NAVI were in need of three points when facing the challenge of MIBR. Fortunately for the side of NAVI, they managed exactly this with a 2-0 victory against the Brazilians.

The first map took place on Mirage, picked by the Brazilians of MIBR. Both rosters have previously shown their capabilities on the map of Mirage and it definitely showed today as well. With “s1mple” leading NAVI and “chelo” MIBR the two teams went toe to toe, seeking to find the slightest edge over their opponents. After a failed knife attempt by “shz” allowing “s1mple” to clutch up and put NAVI back on the board the map went to overtime. Ultimately it was NAVI to take home Mirage with an intense 25-23 victory. 

The second map was picked by NAVI. Perhaps surprisingly the second map wasn’t to be played on Nuke, but instead Dust2. Taking a completely different turn than map one on Mirage was the second map on Dust2. From start to finish it had NAVI’s name written all over it and despite MIBR’s best attempts they were simply not able to stop the confident NAVI roster on Dust2. With “s1mple” once again on top of the leaderboard, NAVI defeated MIBR 16-8.

The 2-0 victory against MIBR marks the second win of NAVI’s ESL Pro League Season 13 campaign as well as three much-needed points. With the three points, they remain a real contender in Group C.

MIBR have secured their first victory in the prominent event after taking down their fellow countrymen from TeamOne. MIBR’s Marcelo “chelo” Cespedes played a massive role in the victory and finished off a stellar performance with 78 kills and 100 ADR over three maps.

The action started on Mirage where MIBR dominated TeamOne out of the server. MIBR powered through to a 10-5 lead before halftime and in the second half, they only lost one round before closing out the map 16-6.

On the second map of the series, both teams followed each other nearly throughout the whole game. Despite Train being a CT-sided map, both teams fought well and played well on the offense grabbing more than 5 rounds each. TeamOne took the map victory in the end after a hard-fought battle and closed out the map 14-16.

MIBR secured the series on Overpass where chelo led the charge. TeamOne were leading 11-13 being only three rounds away to wrap up the series, but MIBR picked themselves up in the end and strung five rounds together to close out the map 16-13.

MIBR will get their chance for revenge in the Group B decider gamer where they will play a rematch against Heroic for a spot in the playoffs, while a defeat will result in a match at the last chance stage. FaZe still have a chance to make the playoffs even though they finished off the group stage without a single win. The three third-placed teams and the highest fourth-placed side from the group stage will be set to play in a single-elimination last chance stage on Friday. So, if FaZe ends up being the best of worst, they will have another chance at the tournament. 

The Brazilian’s led the way in the opener on Dust2. MIBR was leading with 12-6 before FaZe managed to answer back. Both teams followed each other well and the map went into overtime, where a “broky” on fire wasn’t enough for FaZe to close out the map, instead the Brazilian’s came out on top. 

On Inferno, FaZe reached map point but the Brazilian’s managed to fight back and make a comeback from a 12-15 deficit. The veteran Swede was having an incredible game and was the reason why FaZe managed to close out the map after two sets of overtime, sending them to the decider. 

MIBR took control from the very beginning on the decider (Mirage) and stormed to an 11-4 lead in the first half. The European mixture squad managed to grab five rounds in a row on their CT-side and find a bit of momentum, but some close rounds resulted in MIBR breaking their economy and “yel” crushing FaZe’s hope for a comeback after a 1v4 clutch. MIBR closed out the map 16-9.

Despite the loss, FaZe’s olofmesiter finished on top of the overall scoreboard with a rating of 1.18, 81.5 ADR, and a 75-66 compared to MIBR’s chelo who finished the series with a rating of 1.15, 81.6 ADR, and a 74-69 score.

A combined report by fraglider.pt and Cypersport.pl can tell that MIBR is interested in signing BOOM’s roster, consisting Gustavo " yel " Knittel, Marcelo " chelo " Cespedes, Bruno " shz "Martinelli, and Ricardo "boltz "Prass. The report states that sources have confirmed that the Brazilian quartet will be free agents as of February this year. Something which will simplify the potential deal between BOOM and MIBR.

The Brazilian top team MIBR have been the talk of the town this week. Over the span of 3 days, the proud organization have lost its entire roster through a mass escape from players as Vito “kNgV-“ Giueseppe, Epitácio "TACO" de Melo and latest Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo. However, if this report is true, it looks like MIBR once again could hold a potent CS:GO team in the future.
