There will be North American teams to support in the second half of 2023!

Complexity underlined their commitment to the NA scene Thursday night with the signing of Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski to the team. But what about Evil Geniuses? The Seattle-based organization had been linked with European players such as Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug, Aleksandr "⁠zorte⁠" Zagodyrenko, and Denis "⁠electroNic⁠" Sharipov during the summer. But none of the above-mentioned players were part of the announcement Saturday evening, where EG made their intentions clear about the future.

The five now former EG Black players will be promoted to the main team, where only Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta survives from the original team. Vincent "⁠Brehze⁠" Cayonte, Jerric "⁠wiz⁠" Jiang, Ismail "⁠refrezh⁠" Ali, and Sanzhar "⁠neaLaN⁠" Iskhakov have all been benched and will be allowed to search for a new home.

Jadan "⁠HexT⁠" Postma, Colby "⁠Walco⁠" Walsh, Paytyn "⁠junior⁠" Johnson, and Jeorge "⁠Jeorge⁠" Endicott will replace the four players, while the last player from the old EG Black, William "⁠RUSH⁠" Wierzba, will be a 6th player ready to stand-in.

EG also announced the departure of their Danish head coach Daniel "Vorborg" Vorborg, who will also be replaced by the coach of EG Black, Tommy "⁠Axed⁠" Ryan.

The upcoming CS:GO Major in Paris, France will be without the attendance of Evil Geniuses. That became a reality this morning (CET) when the North Americans suffered a devastating loss against TeamOne in the NA RMR Closed Qualifier.

Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and company didn’t even make it to the RMR, which is the last qualifier before the actual Major, with this failure being just one out of many for the big and resourceful organization. 

Their seventh place here at the closed qualifier is just one place shy of further advancement, where the likes of your, Detonate and Nouns all managed to qualify.

As Timothy “autimatic” Ta honestly states following the 2-0 loss and the elimination, this is “rock bottom” for him and also apologizes to the fans and the organization for the performance.

Evil Geniuses’ run at the North America RMR Closed Qualifier:

The return and reoccurrence of Timothy “autimatic” Ta were one the few bright spots for Evil Geniuses in 2022. After an eight-month stint in Valorant, the North American came back and showcased himself as EG’s by far best player.

However this year, autimatic has started off the year rather struggling at both BLAST Premier Spring Groups and the ongoing IEM Katowice Play-in. Something, he also acknowledged when he spoke to ESL after their exit in Katowice saying he played “horribly”.

- I’m not sure [what’s wrong right now in EG]. I think even though we only made one change, I feel like we have switched a lot of roles. For me personally, I played horribly this event. I play a lot of new roles and I just need to get better at them, there’s no real excuse for that.

autimatic and Evil Geniuses ended up leaving the play-in stage at IEM Katowice without a single map win following their opening-round loss to Fnatic and yesterday’s 2-0 beating against Sprout.

- I also think that in the first game against Fnatic we really didn’t play our game at all. We just didn’t play up to our full potential.

- For this time around [against Sprout], even though we lost, I’m happy about our performance. I felt like we played more of our game than in the first game. Obviously, we wished that we would get a better result but I think we can learn a lot from this match, autimatic said.

automatic gives his take on Evil Geniuses´s roster going into the 2023 season. The 26-year-old American Rifler is sure that their new AWPer Jerric "wiz" Jiang will perform on the first team. 

- I think wiz is a special talent, I got to play with him in a few online tournaments and he really impressed me, he reminds me a lot of scar because he doesn't need the team to evolve around him but he can still find his impact and he can still help the team, and he is very supportive while he is also able to show up when it matters, automatic says to Pley.gg.

Widely considered one of the best CS:GO players of all time. The Brazilian has been incredibly consistent at the nine Majors in his career winning two of them back in 2016. He is still most famous for his insane double no-scope shot at Mirage that saved Luminosity down 9-15 in the Semi-Final of the MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016.

Coldzera's play inspired his team to a fantastic comeback and was later rewarded with a graffiti from Valve. Coldzera is back in action this year for 00NATION, who was one of the 24 teams, who qualified for IEM Rio. The Brazilian is currently the best player at a Major.

Probably the best CS:GO player to ever play the game. The Ukrainian finally won a Major last year in Stockholm but has shown some incredible consistency in his performances on the big stage. He has attended 11 Majors, and will always be remembered for his double no-scope kill on Cache.

3. {cflag:UA} Valerii “b1t” Vakhovskyi - 1.18 rating (22 maps)

From two veterans to a newcomer on the big stage. The headshot machine of NAVI was brought in before the PGL Stockholm Major. And what an impact he had! b1t gave NAVI the last push to elevate the team to become the best in 2021 without any doubt. He rocked a 1.21 rating in Stockholm in his Major debut!

The Latvian could be looking into grabbing another Major in Rio in November. FaZe is one of the big favorites for the tournament, and luckily for them, they seem to be able to rely on broky as a difference-maker. At his first Major in Stockholm, broky was the best player for FaZe, who had a disappointing run. In Antwerp, he played a big part in FaZe winning the title. The AWP'er also has the ability to perform some sick clutches and is definitely a player to keep an eye on in the future.

5. {cflag:SE} Andreas "znajder" Lindberg - 1.17 rating (21 maps)

29-year-old znajder has had a long career in CS:GO. He won a Major in 2013 with Fnatic, but was also taking part in ELEAGUE Major in 2017 for GODSENT. The Swedish rifler was also skilled with the AWP, and performed at the highest level in all three Majors that he played. At the start of 2021 he was announced on the Lemondogs roster, but has not played any competitive games since the summer of 2021.

It was always meant to be for ZywOo. He was born on the same day as Counter-Strike's commercial release on November 9, 2000. Dubbed the "Chosen One", ZywOo has also delivered on the big stage. In his four Majors so far, ZywOo has been outstanding on an otherwise mediocre team. Team Vitality has not made it past the Quarter-Final stage despite ZywOo's individual brilliance. Will Rio be the tournament, where ZywOo and Team Vitality breaks through?

7. {cflag:DK} Nicolai "device" Reedtz - 1.15 rating (123 maps)

When is device coming back? Is device coming back? Where is device now? The questions surrounding the Danish AWP god are many, which all seem fair looking at device's Major results. As part of the legendary Astralis roster, device won four Majors and earned two MVP's along the way. His best individual Major was IEM Katowice 2019, where device scored a rating of 1.32.

8. {cflag:US} Timothy "autimatic" Ta - 1.15 rating (29 maps)

The North American player earned himself a reputation from 2017-19 on Cloud9, where the rifler performed consistently in four Majors in a row. The highlight was undoubtedly the Boston ELEAGUE Major in 2018, where Cloud9 on home turf shocked the world and won the Major. Now the American rifler is back and will play his fifth Major at IEM Rio, where he and Evil Geniuses will look to build on their rising form.

As part of one of the most legendary rosters in Counter-Strike history, Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski has made his mark on the game, which we all love. The Virtus.pro rifler has attended 13 Majors in total and finished among the four best in seven of them. On home turf in Katowice in 2014, Snax and Virtus.pro cemented their names in history with a win. His best individual performance was in 2014 at the DreamHack Winther 2014 event.

The now NAVI in-game leader has played eight Majors in his career mostly for NAVI. He made his debut at a Major for the team FlipSid3 together with Andrey 'B1ad3' Gorodenskiy, who is the coach of NAVI now. At the FACEIT Major in London 2018, electroNic was the highest-rated player at the event with a 1.36 rating! The Russian star has won one Major and been in three Grand Finals in total.

We are now less than one week away from the start of the much-awaited IEM Rio Major in Brazil. To ease the waiting time, we have created a countdown series, where we dive into the history of all 17 Majors. Today we have reached the ELEAGUE Boston Major from 2018.

The hosting of the 12th Major Championship in CS:GO history ended up in the hands of the proud region of North American – more specifically, USA. The massive $1 Million tournament was set to be played in Atlanta and Boston in the G-FUEL ELEAGUE Arena and Agganis Arena.

The ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 marked a pivotal event in Counter-Strike history, as Valve decided to transform the Major format, going from 16 teams to 24 teams.

FaZe’s superstars off to a flying start

Finn “karrigan” Andersen and his trusted FaZe soldiers arrived at the Major as one of the heavy gold candidates, placing 2nd on the world ranking and possessing superstar players like Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovacs, Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer, and the 21-year-old phenomenon Nikola “NiKo” Kovac.

The strong FaZe-side also got off to a flying start in the Legends Group Stage, where they swiftly managed to secure a playoff spot by beating tough opponents like Fnatic and the iconic Brazilians from SK Gaming. The 3-0 record meant that they obtained a top seed in the next stage.

A team, who didn’t relish the same kind of success right off the bat was the North Americans from Cloud9. The talented roster, led by Tarik “tarik” Celik, had to go on an utterly impressive 3-0 run in the group taking down Astralis, Virtus.pro, and Vega Squadron, after they fell short in their two opening matches. However, the hustle was enough for them to seal a quarterfinal spot.

A star-studded FaZe lineup that has gone 7-0 in maps since the Legends Stage against the underdogs from Cloud9. A true David vs. Goliath battle - The setting for the ELEAGUE Boston Major was set.

After FaZe stole Cloud9’s map pick on Mirage through a close 16-14 victory and the North Americans returning the favour on the second map of Overpass, the title was set to be decided on the forever-iconic Inferno in a third and conclusive map.

At 15-11 in FaZe’s favour, the majority of viewers and spectators in Agganis Arena were certain that the match was about to be over, handing karrigan his first-ever Major title. However, Cloud9 thought differently. An iconic comeback and an absolute heroic display by Jake “Stewie2K” Yip in the 30th round where he single-handedly crushed FaZe’s A-execute, meant that Cloud9 was given a second chance in overtime.

The comeback and insane performance by Stewie2K clearly gave Cloud9 some much-needed momentum, which in the end helped them to secure the title at the 12th CS:GO Major tournament in history. The first-ever Major title for a North American team.

There has not been much to celebrate within the Evil Geniuses camp for a long time with the North Americans struggling to find a footing at the top of CS:GO. However, yesterday the main team managed to book a ticket for the upcoming Americas RMR tournament after a stellar performance by Timothy “autimatic” Ta.

EG got through the open qualifiers with wins over Limitless, where autimatic dropped 41 kills in regulation, TeamOne and lastly BHOP in the deciding match. autimatic and company will be in action again today as they are set to play a seeding match against ATK.

Evil Geniuses keep their Major dreams alive as they take down their fellow countrymen from Party Astronauts this Thursday. The 2-0-win means, EG will continue to the 6-8th decider bracket alongside 9z and paiN, while Party Astronauts must head home without a PGL Major Antwerpen ticket.

The North American brawl began on Overpass, where Evil Geniuses quickly took control of things despite it being Party Astronauts’ map pick. Something they managed to do owing to an extremely well-playing Timothy “autimatic” Ta.

After a close battle on Mirage, where Party Astronauts succeeded to return the favour by stealing EG’s pick 16-14, the series was set to be concluded om the perfect third map decider of Inferno. Here Stewie2K and EG showed strong character after the tough loss on the previous map, establishing a solid CT side which gave them a favourable 13-2 lead going into the last half of play.

Evil Geniuses secured themselves the victory as Party Astronauts wasn’t able to come back from the huge deficit. Tomorrow, the three remaining teams in 9z, paiN and Evil Geniuses will determine which team is taking the last Major spot.

Every CS:GO player knows that saving an AWP can end up being a crucial factor for your team in the round after - both for the amount of impact on the server but also to keep the economy in check. 

Yesterday, Evil Geniuses' rifler Timothy "autimatic" Ta showcased a quite unique way to salvage an otherwise lost AWP on Inferno. 

The action started with the North American choice of Overpass and impressed with a fantastic performance from automatic. The 25-year-old American was a threat to the German team, consistently finding openings and multi-kills to help EG win a convincing victory at the opener.

The first half of Dust 2 was a one-way performance. K1to’s squad made the best out of their T side, as they quickly managed to go up 1-7. It was going smoothly for BIG until 12-6 on the scoreline when the North Americans attempted a comeback on offense, but in the end, a couple of key rounds from syrsoN was enough to close the map 16-12.

Everything came down to Vertigo, where things were a nail-biter and went back-and-forth with both teams in the lead. Picking up momentum, the German put up a solid T side and won the first half of Vertigo at the scoreline of 8-7. BIG kept their momentum in the second half, winning the pistol and the next three rounds. After switching sides, the German side pulled off a couple of close retakes to start pulling away, closing out the map 16-10 and the series 2-1.

The big North American esports organization Evil Geniuses has completed the creation of their new superstar roster, with the addition of William “RUSH” Wierzba. The experienced rifler will be the last piece in the lineup which also features profiles like Jake "⁠Stewie2K⁠" Yip and Vincent "⁠Brehze⁠" Cayonte, EG confirmed on Thursday evening.

With the transfer to Evil Geniuses, RUSH returns to activity after having been out of competition since July last year, where he was benched by Complexity after a period of lacklustre results.

Timothy “autimatic” Ta’s days at the Valorant organization called T1 are numbered as he will look for a new destination in 2022, the North American wrote in a Twitlonger. The news of his departure from the Valorant side comes after rumours of him returning to competitive Counter-Strike for Evil Geniuses, following an 11-month period away from the game.

The media outlet released a report yesterday about the blockbuster transfer of the current Team Liquid player, stating to have spoken with sources who can confirm the rumours. The rumours of a potential shift between EG and Liquid came out right before Christmas, where it also was reported that Timothy “autimatic” Ta is set to join the North American organization.

Evil Geniuses has at the moment only two active players on their lineup, as Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte and Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov are the only two individuals left standing after a substantial rebuild project. Besides Stewie2K and autimatic, OG’s Valdemar “valde” Bjørn Vangså is also rumoured to be acquired by the North Americans.

Silly Season is well underway these days with several rumors targeting two of OG's most prolific players.

Previously in-game leader Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen has been linked with a move G2, and now Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså could also be on the way out of the Organization. According to the French news outlet, 1.pv.fr the Dane could be joining Stewie2K and Timothy "autimatic" Ta in a new rebuild of the Evil Geniuses roster.

Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså is one of the original members of the OG roster since they started their CS:GO journey as a team in April 2019.

What you may not know is that it wasn’t just tarik, RUSH, Skadoodle, automatic, and the Smoke Criminal who took home the ELEAGUE Major 2018 title.

The 24-year-old American rose to fame when he was part of the Cloud9 roster, which won ELEAGUE Major in 2018. He was ranked as a top 20 player in the world in 2018.'

At the end of 2020, autimatic was placed on the transfer list along with his other teammates at Gen.G. He is now a part of T1's Valorant roster.
