Spotlight on the Top 20: Chaos
It has been a turbulent year for Chaos. The North-American organization announced that it prepares to release its roster and exit CS:GO, but the team still managed to secure back-to-back tournament victories.
As 2020 comes to an end, we take a look at the teams, that reached Top 20 on HLTV’s ranking.
Today we focus on number 18.
Name: Chaos
Origin: United States
Even though the Chaos organization at the beginning of the month, announced that it prepares to release their roster and exit CS:GO, the team managed to get back-to-back tournament victories. In their final tournament of the year and final match under the Chaos banner they looked like a team that had lost all faith in finding a new organization or sponsors, and as vanity said “We have proven us time and time again.”
Active roster:
Edgar “MarKE” Maldonado
Anthony “vanity” Malaspina
Jonathan “Jonji” Carey
Erick “Xeppaa” Bach
Nathan “leaf” Orf
Highlight of the year:
At DreamHack Masters Winter NA, Chaos claimed victory in the Grand final, defeating TeamOne 3-2. The win secured back-to-back tournament victories after they defeated Triumph in the Grand final of IEM Beijing-Haidian. It was an entirely good performance that proved the NA scene is worth watching.
Low point:
On December 3, the Chaos organization announced that it will part ways with their roster at the end of 2020 and the statement pointed towards the lasting impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for their exit, with Chaos saying that the global health crisis has been responsible for “removing a large portion of revenue that esports teams need to stay competitive and effectively support their player.”

Chaos in 2021:
2020 was sadly the end for Chaos, but the well-known commentator launders announced that he is planning to take over the players and is looking for people who want to be a part of it.
“I want to be the team owner of ex-Chaos. Community funded, run by a few smart people, and marketed by me. If you have the business acumen and know-how to pull this off DM me. Let’s build a Chaosus. By NA for NA.” launders wrote on Twitter.
There still hasn’t been any update from launders or the players regarding the situation, but we hope that Chaos will be saved so we can see more of the young talented squad in the future.
