Fnatic put academy project on hold
A shift in focus from the organization.
The British organization announced on Twitter that their academy project will go on hold after 18 months. Four active players will therefore leave and are now free to explore new options. Jamie "Keita" Hall and Andreas "Samuelsson" Samuelsson will be kept tied to Fnatic for another year as the organization is seeking to up their talent development.
The Fnatic Rising players performed well during their time under the Fnatic banner. The core secured themself their first-ever trophy after their victory in the WePlay Academy Season 5. However, the team couldn't keep up their great performance from season five going into season six as the team didn't manage to clinch the playoffs. After a tough ending in 2022 for Fnatic Rising, has the organization decided to pause the project to better its strategies.
- Putting the roster on pause may come as a surprise, but we want to take the time to best strategise about our place in the CSGO Academy league’s to best benefit both the players who enter the programme and also Fnatic’s overarching strategy. - Fnatic said on their website.
The four players who will be free agents are:
Matias "Banjo" Kivistö
Mikkel "Maze" Sparvath
Sebastian "volt" Malos
Adam "WolfY" Andersson
What the future will bring for Fnatic and its talent development strategies is yet to be decided.
