moses on Stewie2K: He has to start from the bottom again and reprove his worth
The CS:GO expert and analyst chimes in on the discussion around the prominent NA rifler.
Earlier this week, Jake “Stewie2K” Yip announced his departure from Evil Geniuses, where he also heavily hinted towards a comeback to CS:GO stating that he never closed the door for a potential return.
The news surrounding the North American icon has of course been a big talking point in the CS community in the following days with a lot of people expressing their opinion about the former Liquid star.
Back to the starting point
Something Stewie2K’s former coach in Liquid Jason “moses” O’Toole, also a renowned CS:GO expert, touched on in the most recent episode of HLTV Confirmed.
A recurring theme for moses during the talk seemed to be Stewie2K’s mentality.
- The question with Stewie is if it’s something where his heart and head will be in the competition… He’s going to have to start from the bottom again and he’s going to have to reprove his worth within the region again, moses said and continued:
- There’s a little bit of reputational damage that he has to repair, and I think that can happen pretty quickly. If his heart is in it and he shows the community and the NA scene that he wants to be here and wants to bust his ass off and bring up another lower-end team and raises their level and competitiveness on the world scale, I think the hatred is going to turn right back around.
moses coached Stewie2K and the rest of Liquid for a nine-month period in 2020-2021
"A special and unique talent"
moses later on went on to discuss some of the pitfalls that Stewie2K could fall into if he decides to return to competitive Counter-Strike, where the experienced analyst
- The landmine that I would want him to avoid would be to not make the decision strictly because you miss being competitive in something… I mean if he makes the decision to come back it better be that he wants to become a very good Counter-Strike player and be on a very good team.
However, the 25-year-old rifler is not all a lost cause in terms of his abilities, moses points out towards the end of the discussion.
- As soon as his mentality and attitude are aligned, Jake’s a very special and unique talent within Counter-Strike. A lot of us got to see it firsthand in his career with the way he played and changed teams. He just lost some of that uniqueness towards the end of his road.
