Former Rebirth members receive five-year bans
ESIC has handed five-year bans to the former Rebirth duo of Sebastian “retchy” Tropiano and Kevin “4pack” Przypasniak.
After a long period of silence, ESIC have finally issued an update on the ongoing investigation into match-fixing within the North American Counter-Strike scene, particularly within the ESEA league.
ESIC has just announced that it has handed five-year bans to former Rebirth members 4pack and retchy for breaches of their Anti-Corruption code. The former Rebirth duo will have the right to appeal the updated penalty, which is due to end on 1st April 2026.
4pack and retchy had already been suspended from ESEA for nearly a half year after a recording of a conversation between them and Carson “norsraC” O’Reilly surfaced, in which the trio was believed to be discussing plans to fix their matches in ESEA MDL. noscraC was only issued a ban lasting 111 days, which he has already served, compared to rechy and 4pack’s hefty five-year bans. The reason for that is because ESIC didn’t have evidence that suggested O’Reilly actively engaged directly in any match-fixing or illicit betting.
ESIC is still in the process of conducting 34 additional investigations relating to this matter. The watchdog group will provide further updates to the investigation in their recently-established open investigations register to keep communities up to date with what they are doing. Their active investigation register will show the date the investigation started, what stage the investigation is at, and each published update around the investigation.
