FaZe stuns G2 to reach Shanghai Major Grand Final
A strong individual performance by Robin "ropz" Kool and a well-called series by his captain were the difference-maker in today's semifinal.
FaZe has booked their place in the Perfect World Shanghai Major Grand Final after a commanding 2-0 victory over G2 this Saturday.
The star of the day was undoubtedly Robin “ropz” Kool, who delivered a masterclass performance on the server, propelling FaZe into tomorrow’s title-deciding match. The Estonian rifler was relentless, finishing the series with an exceptional 1.45 rating and consistently causing problems for G2 across both maps.
The semifinal series in China started off in the jungle of Ancient with FaZe steamrolling over G2 in a T-side masterclass by Finn “karrigan” Andersen, which saw FaZe grab 10 rounds before the switch, leaving G2 with little room to recover. Despite G2’s improved performance in the second half, FaZe’s early advantage proved impossible as they closed out the map 13-6.
The battle on Nuke was much tighter, with both teams trading rounds in a highly competitive contest. G2 appeared poised to force a third map as they reached a 12-10 lead late in regulation. However, Nikola “NiKo” Kovač and his squad were unable to close it out, allowing FaZe to rally and secure a hard-fought overtime victory.
With this win, FaZe now sets their sights on the Grand Final, where they will face Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Spirit in a clash for the Major title. The showdown is set to take place on Sunday at 10:00 CET.
