cadiaN on the new Astralis: There are changes for everyone in the team
In a recent interview, the new Astralis IGL discusses the team's role changes and shares his thoughts on reuniting with former teammates stavn and jabbi.
Casper “cadiaN” Møller is the new sheriff in Astralis. The experienced Dane has joined the iconic Danish squad from Liquid to take over in-game leadership from Nicolai “device” Reedtz.
The surprising transfer introduces major shifts, not only for Astralis but for cadiaN as well, as he transitions from his usual AWP role to rifling, allowing device to return to his preferred AWP.
"Changes for everyone"
In an interview on Astralis' Twitch channel, cadiaN discussed the team’s role changes, revealing that the reshuffling will affect “everyone, more or less."
- There are changes for everyone in the team more or less. Because even though device isn’t moving his positions in-game, he’s moving away from leading, cadiaN said.
He then elaborated on his decision to step away from the AWP:
- I have always had the philosophy that there are only 3-5 players in the world that I would be willing to give up my AWP-role for. It has to be to a player that I think is significantly better than me. But you could see last year that I ended up as the #18 best player of the year as an AWPer and IGL, which is not easy. So it would only be a ZywOo, s1mple, m0NESY or device for me to think the role is worth giving it up. I have massive respect for device, and he will also be my right-hand in terms of the team culture and upholding standards for everyone.
Thoughts on joining forces with jabbi and stavn again
The move stirred up debate, particularly regarding cadiaN’s reunion with former Heroic teammates Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard and Martin “stavn” Lund, following their well-publicized fallout. However, cadiaN addressed this directly, explaining why he ultimately decided to join Astralis.
- For me, having just an egoistic perspective, the main reason why I made this move is because I want to fucking win. And this is my best chance of winning, that’s why I’m here.
- I can see that there are people in the chat wondering about the entire situation with Jabbi and stavn. Like I was bicycling with Jan [Astralis’ performance coach] to the office today and we were like: “The people questioning how my relationship is with them [jabbi and stavn] and they think that we haven’t talked it through is a little bit crazy.” Because, of course, we have talked. We know how much good we do for each other being in a team together, and that’s why we want to reunite, cadiaN said in the interview to Astralis.
